Meta Unveils Reddit-Like Forum App With AI Assistant For Admins

There is a forum that everyone should explore. The Forum is a new social media software that Meta has quietly released. Without making an official and formal announcement, the debate and conversation-focused platform was recently discovered in the iOS App Store. It is expected that the Forum app will operate similarly to Reddit. The Forum app may require a Facebook account for users to access it. It allows users to use a moniker when posting. The ‘Ask’ button and an AI-powered tab in the Forum app are intended to deliver prompt responses from various groups within the app.

This forum that Meta has discreetly released is a new stand-alone iOS app that repackages Facebook Groups into a debate platform that is similar to Reddit by removing them from the main Facebook feed.

Social marketing specialist Matt Navarra discovered that the corporation had discreetly posted the Forum app on the App Store. “A dedicated space built for deeper discussions, real answers, and the communities you care about” is how the app, which was created especially for Facebook groups, is characterised.

Without making an official announcement, the app was discovered on the App Store, indicating that it is an obvious attempt by Meta to attract Reddit’s informal, discussion-focused user base.

Its goal of “bringing people together around the things they care about, from niche hobbies to local recommendations to support groups” raises the possibility that Reddit will face competition.

According to the advertisement, users may use their Facebook account to log into the Forum app, and their current groups, profile information, and activity are automatically transferred to Forum. Additionally, the software lets people publish under nicknames. A user’s Facebook groups will still exist on Facebook, and any content shared through the forum will still show up in those groups.

A preview of the Forum’s user interface can be found in the App Store listing. Discussions from users’ groups will be displayed in the feed.

Additionally, users will be able to follow existing conversations and continue where they left off.

The ‘Ask’ function of the Forum App gathers answers from many groups so that users can get recommendations fast. All of their Facebook capabilities will be available to the group administrators on the forum as well. An AI-powered administrative assistant will assist them in keeping control over their communities, managing their groups, and moderating content.

Devices running iOS 18 or later are compatible with the Forum app. Its age rating is thirteen years. It is quite fortunate that customers in India are not now able to get it through the App Store, and the rollout seems to be restricted to specific regions.

Here are the key features of the Forum, which Meta released quietly and which is similar to Reddit.

  • Facebook Login & Syncing: Sign in with Facebook; profiles, groups, and activity sync automatically between the forum and Facebook Groups.
  • Pseudonymous Posting: Post under a nickname, but admins can see real identities to prevent abuse.
  • No Algorithmic Trends: The Feed shows only text-based discussions from followed groups, no trends or ads.

The AI features in the App that Meta added are two AI tools for the forum:

  • AI “Ask” Tab: Users post a question, and AI pulls answers from discussions across multiple groups, no need to search each one manually.
  • AI-Powered Admin Assistant: A backend tool that helps moderators manage large communities, filter spam, and auto-moderate content to reduce burnout.

By leveraging billions of Facebook Group users, Meta’s Forum app targets Reddit’s base, causing Reddit’s stock to drop 5–6% on fears of losing casual users.
