Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses get hands-free Apple Music integration and more | ZDNET

Several updates for the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses have been announced by Meta. CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently shared an Instagram post showcasing the glasses’ new cat-eye frame shape and video-calling functionality. Additionally, you can now pair the glasses with Apple Music and is now available to all US and Canadian users.

Check out Zuckerberg’s reel for a simple demonstration of the video calling capability. In the video, he discusses the new Skyler frames with Instagram’s head of fashion, Eva Chen. A few additional colours are also being added to the current Wayfarer and Headliner versions. For people who have trouble with their glasses falling down their faces, a low-bridge version of the Rounder Headliner is also being released.

You may now share videos directly from your glasses during a WhatsApp or Messenger call. Meta’s blog warns that you might not see this feature right away, but will be released gradually. You can do this by double-tapping the physical capture button on the glasses during a call. You can use this feature even if you haven’t linked WhatsApp in the Meta View app. To enable sharing your view, tap the glasses icon during your next video call for instructions. Compatibility with Apple Music is an additional feature that wasn’t addressed in the blog. However, the feature popped up in the Meta View app this morning. Apple Music may be controlled hands-free to play any song, playlist, station, or artist, according to the instructions. Users can also ask for recommendations based on their listening history.

In December, Meta released an early access program for their multimodal artificial intelligence. It is now available in beta form to users in the US and Canada. With the help of this feature, you can snap photos with the glasses and have Meta provide more details. You can ask it to translate a sign written in a foreign language, identify a type of plant, and come up with Instagram posts.

You can now ask to play a certain song, artist, album, playlist, or genre with a voice request using the Ray-Ban Meta’s voice assistant. Furthermore, Meta AI can answer your question for example, “Hey Meta, what song is this?” if you’re listening to a song and are unaware of the name or artist.
