Microsoft admitted that the June 2025 security patches had introduced a new problem that was causing some Windows Server systems’ DHCP service to stall.
The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Server function on Windows Server systems streamlines network administration and guarantees dependable IP address configuration in Windows networks by automating IP address assignment and other network setups.
The new DHCP known issue that Microsoft acknowledged over the weekend stops unicast IP address renewals from applying appropriately across network devices in affected situations.
“This security upgrade may cause the DHCP Server service to periodically stop responding. According to the company’s changes to security advisories released during this month’s Patch Tuesday, “this issue affects IP renewal for clients.”

Redmond resolved another known Windows Server problem during this month’s Patch Tuesday, which caused some Windows Server 2025 domain controllers to become inaccessible during restarts, leading to app or service failures.
Authentication issues on Windows Server domain controllers that arose with the deployment of the April 2025 security updates were also resolved by the June 2025 cumulative updates.
To fix a fault that was causing some Hyper-V virtual machines running Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server to abruptly restart or stall, Microsoft also released out-of-band upgrades in May.
A known problem that prevented Windows containers from launching on Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022, and Windows Server 2025 computers was fixed by the company’s second batch of emergency updates, which were published a month earlier.
Only containers operating in Hyper-V isolation mode which permits several containers to run concurrently on a single Windows host within distinct virtual machines were impacted by these launch issues.
