In an era where revolutions and innovations are no longer the stuff of oil paintings and hand-written manuscripts, Microsoft, the giant wizard of the tech industry, again sets the pot stirring. Last week, Microsoft unveiled its newest undertaking: Microsoft Stream, a novel online video sharing service dedicated to organizations of all sizes.

This cutting-edge venture comes in the wake of the remarkable growth and success of Microsoft’s cloud services since its shift in focus under new leadership in February 2014. With its groundbreaking cloud technology, Microsoft continues to cement its reputation as a titan of the tech industry.

In an environment where the digital realm permeates every facet of our daily lives, videos have swiftly burgeoned into a vital medium of communication. This is particularly true in a world where global broadband access is improving by the minute. Consumption of video content online is insatiable and increases daily into a colossal abyss.

Yet in an organizational setting, how does one facilitate and manage seamless access to such voluminous content? Microsoft endeavored to answer this question with Microsoft Stream. Stream is designed to act as a default tool in Office 365, building on the thriving legacy of the Office 365 video cloud service. The service promises to simplify video access and discovery within your organization to a great extent.

Beginning immediately, anyone equipped with a business email address can sign up for the preview within seconds. They can then begin uploading, sharing, and tagging videos within their organization. Microsoft Stream seeks to render the cumbersome tasks of video storage and security management effortless, thereby enabling organizations and their employees to communicate and collaborate through video with ease.

Embracing the culture of social media, Microsoft Stream’s ingenious feature of tagging videos opens up a new horizon in the realm of video accessibility. By tagging colleagues in videos, an organisation ensures that its video content reaches its intended audience rapidly and directly.

Microsoft’s initiative to enhance user experience does not end with Stream. The tech giant also announced ‘Bookings’ last week, a tool which functions as an online scheduler for appointments between its users and their customers directly from Office 365.

Microsoft continues to revolutionize not just the realm of technology, but also the very way in which we conduct our lives and businesses. As it forges ahead, breaking new ground with services such as Stream and Bookings, Microsoft dispels any doubts about its continued dominance in the tech industry.
