Global tech giant company Microsoft plans on re-opening its US headquarter to more employees on the 29th of March. The company says that employees will be able to return to their offices at specified time or even at all time, or continue to perform their jobs remotely.

The tech company announced on Monday that its US headquarters will be open to more employees by the end of the month. Workers, who had been left with no choice than to work from home due to the Coronavirus disease and the lockdowns that followed, will now be able to come back to work. From the 29th of March, employees who work at the company’s headquarters located at Redmond, Washington and other offices that are located close to the headquarters will have the choice of either going to work there for some specified time or at all times. Microsoft revealed this in a blogpost it released. Employees also have the choice of working from home if they choose to, therefore Microsoft is giving its employees quite a range of choices that is both convenient and follows the COVID prescriptions.

The Head of Corporate Strategy; Kurt DelBene said that, ‘We’ve been closely monitoring local health data for months and have determined that the campus can safely accommodate more employees on-site while staying aligned to Washington state capacity limits’.

According to the information contained in the blogpost, Microsoft offices in all 21 countries globally have also included more workers and 20 percent of its total workforce working at an office. The Head of Corporate Strategy; Kurt DelBene also revealed that, ‘Our goal is to give employees further flexibility, allowing people to work where they feel most productive and comfortable, while also encouraging employees to work from home as the virus and related variants remain concerning’.

The tech company announced in October that it was extending its Work From Home policy until the 6th of July this year, at the earliest.  Microsoft also made it public that moving forward with its policies, the company will allow employees work from home at least half of the time- employees who wish to work remotely full time or relocate may do so with their manager’s approval.
