Microsoft’s Defender Security Is Coming To iOS And Android, Launches On Linux

Apps haver come a long way and have changed our lives on many ways and frankly speaking, the app era has brought about a whole of businesses that we didn’t think could exist. But with that had also come malicious apps by bad actors seeing in light of billions of iOS and Android users on a daily basis. It would seem that both Apple and Google have not been able to effectively remove these apps thereby dealing with the problem.

Microsoft though is stepping to help in that regards. The software giant is bringing its Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) to other mobile operating systems (Android and iOS) and Linux.

On Android and iOS, Defender will help keep users from visiting web destinations.

In a blog post by  Ann Johnson  who is Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President, Cybersecurity Solutions Group, Microsoft Defender ATP offers preventive protection, post-breach detection and automated investigation and response for Windows and macOS. Today we’re announcing support for Linux and plans for iOS and Android as well.

What we don’t know as of now is when Defender support will be made available for iOS and Android users. We know though that it is now available on Linux. On web browsers, Microsoft already released Defender extensions for Firefox and Chrome and then it released for Mac. With the latest announcement for iOS and Android, Microsoft has really made its Defender Advanced Threat Protection a cross platform solution.

Lastly as part of yesterday’s announcement, the Microsoft Threat Protection which combines Defender, Office 365 ATP, Azure ATP and Microsoft Cloud App Security is now available to Microsoft 365 customers.
