Microsoft is now beginning to bring out its new Gaming Copilot, its AI-powered companion, to all Windows 11 users, having only begun testing it in the Windows Game Bar last month. The previously tested feature is now being made available to PC users worldwide, with the exception of China. The Gaming Copilot will also be available on the Xbox mobile app for iOS and Android in October, per a press release from Microsoft’s Xbox. Microsoft claims that the latest version has “regional support everywhere except mainland China,” despite the fact that the initial preview was only available in specific markets. Microsoft is also releasing Gaming Copilot to the Xbox mobile app next month.
The Principal Program Manager at Xbox, Taylor O’Malley explains in a press statement that the feature gradually rolls out over the next few weeks, PC players will start seeing Gaming Copilot integrated directly into their Game Bar experience starting Thursday. Taylor also said that as from next month, it will be available on the Xbox mobile app for Apple and Android, allowing users to access this customised companion through a second screen without interfering with their gameplay.”
On Windows 11, the Gaming Copilot will be accessible as it will show up as a widget within the Game Bar. It has a speech mode that allows you to communicate with the AI assistant directly using its voice mode without having to alt + tab out of a game or leaving the game. You may ask Copilot about a boss in a game without having to explain it because it will even use pictures of the game to assist with its responses.
Gaming Copilot’s Voice Mode for PC allows for “Mini Mode,” which keeps discussions going in a small pinned widget, and “Push to Talk,” which facilitates rapid in-game enquiries. With these choices, players can receive help without interfering with their gaming. In order to offer real-time assistance, the AI can also decipher what is displayed on the screen. For example, it can recognise an enemy or boss and offer strategies.
The Gaming Copilot will also allow you to view a list of your most recent Xbox achievements, recommend games, and more. Microsoft promises to bring this AI-powered experience to Xbox consoles “in the near future” and is also going to optimise this Gaming Copilot for its upcoming Xbox Ally portable devices.
In addition to in-game assistance, Gaming Copilot can help with play history, highlight recent Xbox milestones, and suggest new games. According to Microsoft, the assistant will eventually be extended to Xbox consoles and tuned for future handheld devices such as the ROG Xbox Ally.
Microsoft referred to Gaming Copilot in its news statement as a “personal sidekick” that offers advice, suggestions, and insights while playing. The technology will eventually develop into an AI coach that can provide more complex gameplay methods, according to the company’s aim.
Microsoft hopes that the Gaming Copilot will eventually become an AI gaming coach. This first attempt is being positioned by the firm as a kind of sidekick that will help you through games and provide advice. Additionally, Microsoft has already shown how to use the Gaming Copilot with Overwatch 2, allowing it to suggest suitable hero choices to enhance the team.
