Ever since surpassing the significant milestone of 10 million active subscribers in June 2014, MTN Cameroon continues to assert its position as a telecommunications leader within the nation. The journey to the 10 millionth connection, which occurred in Ndogbong, Douala, solidified MTN Cameroon’s position within the country’s mobile telephony landscape and further highlighted its integral role in shaping the nation’s socio-economic landscape.

MTN Cameroon currently has a significant impact on Cameroon’s broader populace. Figures indicate that 46% of the nation interacts with MTN Cameroon daily, and among all mobile phone owners in the country, 60% are MTN network users.

MTN Cameroon has shown consistent growth since its inception in February 2000, when the MTN International Group acquired Camtel Mobile. Since then, it has become a symbol of the Cameroonian government’s successful privatization policy, which commenced in 1995. By offering high-tech extensive communication networks, MTN Cameroon has revolutionized access to telephony, served marginalized areas, and catalyzed business competitiveness.

Playing a crucial role in the national economy, MTN Cameroon provides employment opportunities to approximately 200,000 young individuals. Its significant contributions to local Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and its role in promoting Cameroonian talent are undeniable. Additionally, through the MTN Foundation, the company continually improves community well-being by enabling access to clean water, healthcare, and quality education.

The commitment of MTN Cameroon to its customers was emphasized by its Chief Executive Officer, Karl O. Toriola, who acknowledged subscribers in a letter, expressing appreciation for their trust in the company. He further reinforced MTN’s commitment to delivering excellent customer service and maintaining its position as an innovative telecommunication leader.
