MTN joins the Ubuntuland population within the Metaverse network owning hundreds of purchased digital land in the Metaverse community ruled by foreign tech companies. MTN becomes the first African network to own a community in the Metaverse buying 144 plots of Ubuntuland.8

The Ubuntuland is developed by Africarare and Mann Made Media who assigned the digital land to the Telecom behemoth for an undisclosed amount. MTN revealed they will make Ubuntuland available to the public as 2020 counts down.

According to Ubuntuland’s developers, the MTN’s Metaverse community will showcase acts per daily trends including, fashion, soap operas, creativity, tech, music, sport, games, African art, education, entertainment, etc. MTN also plans to make space for other artists to showcase their art in the Ubuntuland Metaverse.

Remember the post-pandemic era in 2021 when the collection of non-fungible tokens was trendy, MTN sold its NFTs for $50,000 per art collection. Ever since MTN Group has reported transitioning into a technology company that is primarily a behemoth telecom brand.

The likes of MTN, MMM, and Africarare intend to replicate the NFT and Metaverse marketplace that has reportedly bolstered the digital economy of developed countries in Europe, Asia, and the Central American continent. The Ubuntuland Metaverse is a means for Africans to benefits from what the Western economy has experienced lately.

“We feel there’s a great opportunity for Africa to take part in this new world.” Africarare CEO, Mic Mann said. The South African-owned Telecom group technology company also affirmed Mann’s comment — “This investment demonstrates MTN’s commitment to supporting African innovation.”

In sum, MTN’s sole motive is to attract more subscribers to its networks they recently tweaked with trendy experiences, such as gaming, videos, music, African art, etc. MTN is teleporting its subscribers to the Metaverse where the social lifestyle is lit and worth millions in bytes.

The South African digital market is responsive to going beyond the reach of this universe. MTN’s occupancy in the Metaverse is seconded by another South African-based advertisement company dubbed M&C Saatchi Abel also bought Ubuntuland’s digital land. Now MTN and M&C Saatchi Abel have joined the lists of international tech companies to hop on the Metaverse trends.
