The current NATO crisis in Ukraine where the rest of the world is against Russia for discombobulating a sovereign state’s relations. In respect to the current wellbeing of Africans based in Ukraine, the Mobile Telephone Network, MTN, has played its part in relieving the stress off Africans with an economic social bundle.

MTN has reportedly enabled its African-based subscribers to access free international calls and SMS. Both postpaid and prepaid existing MTN users are entitled to call family and friends in Ukraine for free — MTN subscribers can communicate for free powered by uninterrupted broadband connectivity approved by the ITR.¹
.

The high-end uninterrupted connection MTN promotes is tweaked by the sure-fire networking to attain connection with high speed. Due to the Ukraine crisis, MTN subscribers are entitled to fifty free SMS and thirty minutes of free calls to Ukraine residents. This bonus bundle is exclusive to active MTN subscribers and the validity timeline for free calls and SMS continues through March.

“We understand that some of our customers in Ukraine have experienced challenges to contact their loved ones. As a result, we have stepped in with support to ensure that our customers, both at home and in Ukraine, are still able to connect with family and friends.” The South African-owned telecom behemoth is passionate about preserving lives in Ukraine amidst the political crisis with Russia. “All of our customers will benefit from the waived SMS and voice call fees to and from Ukraine. This blanket waiver has been put in place as an immediate response to the need.”

MTN orchestrate a successful welfare campaign whereby the Ukraine relations with the International Telecommunication Regulations, ITR, allows MTN to neglect the ITR’s policy on International Direct Dialing. The IDD cost charges local MTN subscribers to pay more on international telecommunications.

Due to the Ukraine crisis, the ITR’s IDD policy is suspended for a month exclusively for existing MTN subscribers to call Ukrainians for some allocated timing. “All of our customers will benefit from the waived SMS and Voice call fees to and from Ukraine. This blanket waiver has been put in place as an immediate response to the need.”

MTN has reportedly been consistent with relieving Africans in Ukraine of the burden of being caught up with the war Russia has against the NATO baiting with Ukraine’s sovereignty. MTN also had to consort the GSMA consultation for high-end broadband connection to make it swift response.

Recall MTNN got shortlisted to promote the NCC’s 5G spectrum installation. This will enable MTN subscribers to communicate with other Telecom brands despite the absence of MTN’s connection in Ukraine. Still, the telecom behemoth is focused on the Ukrainian rescue mission which is also likely to serve as espionage to the highest bid.
