New Features Coming To Snapchat Including Editing Sent Messages

Snap the parent company of Snapchat has unveiled a trove of features for the snapchat app. From the highly anticipated editable messages to cutting-edge AI capabilities, this update promises to elevate the user experience to unprecedented heights.

Perhaps top of yesterday’s announcement is the ability to edit sent messages, a functionality that has become a must-have for modern messaging apps. With this groundbreaking feature, Snapchat users can bid farewell to the dreaded I’m vs the am typos or somewhat lazy typing habits or any other embarrassing errors that may have slipped through the cracks. However, there’s a catch – the editing window is a brief five minutes, and the recipient must not have opened the message yet. Does this ring a bell ? Well yes, Gmail has a similar feature that allows you recall a sent message within 30 seconds of sending the message.

In a strategic move that echoes Elon Musk’s Twitter Blue (now rebranded as X Premium), Snap has decided to offer the editable messages feature “first” to Snapchat Plus subscribers, further incentivizing users to upgrade to the premium tier. So unlike how it is free for all Gmail users, social media companies have rather chosen this to be a premium feature for paid users only.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Snapchat is also rolling out a suite of AI-powered features, building upon the success of its OpenAI-powered My AI chatbot introduced last year. One standout addition is the AI-driven reminders function, which allows users to task My AI with remembering crucial deadlines, ensuring they never miss an important date again.

For those who revel in self-expression, Snapchat is raising the bar with AI-generated custom clothing for Bitmojis. Users can now create personalized virtual outfits for their digital avatars, infusing their virtual identities with a touch of distinctiveness.

Moreover, the app’s AI Lenses are set to transport users back to the nostalgic ’90s with a Polaroid-style filter that can transform a simple selfie into a retro masterpiece.

Not to be outdone, Snapchat is also embracing the universal language of emojis by introducing emoji reactions to messages. And for those who crave even more interactivity, the app now allows users to send location-based reactions to friends, whether they’re commuting or arriving at work – a feature best enjoyed while adhering to road safety guidelines.

These cutting-edge Snapchat features are already available for users to explore, with the editable messages for Snapchat Plus subscribers slated for a “coming soon” release.

As social media continues to evolve at a breakneck pace, Snap’s latest innovations solidify its position as a trailblazer in the realm of interactive messaging and augmented reality experiences. With this ambitious update, Snapchat is poised to captivate users worldwide, igniting a frenzy of excitement across the digital landscape.
