This month is a little varied in terms of the most recent feature-set, but it’s still fairly sparse. Without further ado, let’s dive into all that’s new for Excel this month. Microsoft frequently adds new features to Excel, and at the end of each month, it publishes a blog post covering all the new functionalities it added to the spreadsheet software in the previous four weeks. February 2024 was all about Copilot as Microsoft introduced enhancements to its AI tool’s integration with Excel.

Some new trim functionalities are now generally available for Windows Current Channel and Monthly Enterprise Channel users, according to Microsoft on the support page site.

TRIMRANGE and other related trim references in Excel for Windows; Use the TRIMRANGE function to eliminate empty rows and columns from a range’s boundaries. Customized versions of this function can be carried out more quickly by using additional trim references.

A new function and a list of corroborating references are being introduced:

The TRIMRANGE function eliminates empty rows and columns from a range’s edges.

Trim references provide a more concise method of calling popular TRIMRANGE function variants.

All customers of Windows CC (Current Channel) and MEC (Monthly Enterprise Channel) now have access to this capability.

Subsequently, Python for Excel online has become generally available for business and enterprise clients, and it is also in preview for family and individual users. Similarly, Mac Insiders are now able to use Copilot in Excel with Python. For those who don’t know, with some help from Copilot, this enables users who are not fluent in either Python or Excel to utilize the combined strength of both.

Eligible Enterprise and Business customers may now access Python in Excel for the web, while family and personal users can preview it. Python formulae may now be created, edited, and recalculated in any worksheet on Windows and on your browser. Copilot users may also perform sophisticated analysis using Copilot in Excel with Python. Mac Insiders will now be able to access this.

Lastly, iPhone and iPad Insiders may now share files anonymously. Without a Microsoft account, Excel for iOS allows users to access shared Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files on iPhone and iPad devices (Insiders). This is really a function of Microsoft 365 that allows users to view shared Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files without first logging into a Microsoft account.

Now that we’ve extended anonymous file sharing to iPhone and iPad, collaborators who don’t have a Microsoft account can open files you’ve shared with them on their iPhone or iPad.

That concludes the discussion, indicating that this month was also comparatively calmer in the Excel space. However, be sure to contact Microsoft using the Feedback site here or the built-in Excel suggestion tool if you would like to seek new features or improvements to current ones.
