Microsoft has announced its new feature update for its Windows 10 operating system and the tech company is calling it version 21H1. This version succeeds its predecessor released last year known as version 20H2. The company announced that the new update comes with new features as well as security enhancements. According to the tech company, the new update will come with remote access, security, quality improvements and changes to enhance the experiences of users.

Some of the new features to come with the update include; Windows Hello Multi Camera Support, Windows Defender Application Guard, update on Windows Management Instrumentation Group Policy Service, and others.

The Windows Hello Multi Camera Support will set the default as the external camera when both internal and external Windows Hello cameras are present. The new update will see improvements to Windows Defender Application Guard as well as optimization of document opening scenario times. The Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) Group Policy Service (GPSVC) will see improvements and will support remote work scenarios. While the update is speculated to be released before the middle of the year, all Windows 10 editions of versions 21H1 will get eighteen months of servicing.

The Vice President, Program management, Delivery and service; John Cable said in a blog post that ‘ As people continue to rely on Windows more than ever to work, learn and have fun, we understand the importance of providing the best possible update experience to help people and organizations stay protected and productive. It is a responsibility we do not take lightly and why for the first time an H1 (first half of a calendar year) feature update release will be delivered in an optimized way using servicing technology, while continuing our semi-annual feature update cadence’.

The tech company also made it known that users running Windows 10 either version 2004 or 20H2 will have a new installation experience if they choose to update, because the update will install like a monthly update. The company however explained that users who have Windows 10 older than 2004 version which came in May 2020 will receive their update just like any previous Windows 10 update.
