The feature is already receiving an update, only under a month after Google first made Video Overviews available to NotebookLM. With that update, more people will be able to access Video Overviews.
Google revealed on Monday that it has added support for 80 languages, which includes French, German, Spanish, and Japanese, to NotebookLM’s Video Overviews feature. Additionally, the business updated Audio Overviews, making non-English audio summaries much more detailed.
NotebookLM introduced Video Overviews last month, enabling users to create video presentations using their notes, PDFs, and photos. This upgrade is helpful for those with litttle knowledge and experience with English who wish to learn from visual summaries in their preferred language, as it was previously only available in English.
Also, audio overviews for users who do not speak English are improving. The entire version was only available in English at first, and it was restricted to short summaries. More detailed summaries are now available to users in more than 80 languages. If the customer only wants the highlights, the company believes there will still be a way to obtain a condensed overview.
These modifications are intended to satisfy the needs of NotebookLM’s worldwide user base, assisting users in learning through audio or video summaries regardless of their preferred language.
These updates are available to everyone as of right now, and they will be distributed worldwide throughout the course of the following week.
If you haven’t used NotebookLM before, it’s one of Google’s best learning resources. It takes all of the material that is packed into your notepad and gives a brief summary of it so that you can quickly understand the main ideas. Originally providing audio overviews in the style of podcasts, NotebookLM has now expanded its offerings to include video overviews.
Only English was accessible when Video Overviews debuted in late July; additional languages will be added later. With Google rolling out support for more than 80 new languages, that growth begins today. Video Overviews now supports a number of languages, including Portuguese, French, Italian, Chinese, and more. In the meantime, Audio Overviews will now be more interesting and longer than they were previously. The IT giant claims that “Audio Overviews in over 80 languages deliver the same depth, structure, and nuance as our English Audio Overviews, moving from short-form to full-length.” This means that rather than hearing highlights, you hear full and related conversations.
For NotebookLM users, these updates are being rolled out globally today. It is anticipated that the deployment will continue for the next week.
As multilingual support becomes a basic need and industry analysts predict that the market for AI-powered study and productivity products will continue to increase steadily. Google’s ongoing updates to NotebookLM are probably going to encourage further adoption in markets where English is not the primary language, particularly in the professional and educational sectors. As Google looks to establish its place in the knowledge and productivity software market, future improvements may include greater integration with other productivity platforms, improved customisation, and support for more regional languages.
