October Pixel Drop: New Features for Pixel Devices

Thanks to the introduction of Android 15, users of Pixel devices will undoubtedly be busy exploring a number of new features. But Google’s most recent October Pixel Drop gives fresh and modern gadgets even more functions. The Pixel 6 and the most recent Pixel 9 Pro Fold, as well as Google ecosystem goods like the Pixel Watch and Buds series TWS headphones, are also affected by this quarterly update, as is customary. Although Google has introduced a number of capabilities for earlier Pixel models, it’s a good idea to remember that some services, like Gemini Live, are limited to specific devices, languages, and nations.

Phased deployment of Google’s October Pixel Drop started yesterday. Don’t worry if you haven’t seen it yet; it will appear shortly.

First off, if you have a pair of Pixel Buds, Gemini Live is now easier to access. Owners of Google Pixel Buds Pro or A-series may now initiate a conversation with the AI assistant by simply saying, “Hey Google, let’s talk,” through their headphones. This feature was just made accessible to all Pixel users at no cost. The Pixel pictures app now integrates with the standard Gemini assistant, enabling you to quickly locate anything in your pictures.

Updates from Pixel Phones now available for Pixel 8 series devices is the Audio Magic Eraser tool, which made its debut with the Pixel 8 Pro last year and returned in a “better” version with the Pixel 9 series. Owners of the Pixel 9 series (except from the 9 Pro Fold, of course) can now enjoy better photography and video recording with more accurate and vibrant colours.

Google claims to have made significant enhancements to Astrophotography in Night Sight mode, which is accessible to anyone starting with the Pixel 6. Additionally, Night Sight is available on Instagram, enabling Pixel owners to take Night Sight photos straight from the Instagram app.

You can now utilize the viewfinder as a guide to see precisely what you are aiming it at with the Temperature app, which is available on the Pixel 8 Pro, 9 Pro, and 9 Pro XL models. Additionally, Google introduced themed widget recommendations in the form of widget categories (such as social and entertainment).

Updates for Pixel Watches and Tablets, all owners of Pixel Watches may now quickly call, message, or open a contact by setting a new individual contact tile. Additionally, users may use their Pixel Watch to communicate or respond with emojis (for the Gmail app). Previously exclusive to the Pixel Watch 3, Google’s Loss of Pulse Detection function is now accessible to users in Belgium, Italy, and Spain.

Transferring material from a Pixel Tablet or a Pixel 9 Pro Fold to a Pixel phone is now simpler and doesn’t require the cast icon. It essentially allows users to cast media from one device to another by merely bringing a Pixel phone closer to a Pixel tablet; a new capability will be available in the upcoming weeks. Users of Pixel tablets will also be pleased to see that notifications will sync across their Pixel phone and tablet, so they just need to turn off a notification on one device rather than two.
