An early version of Microsoft’s Copilot for Gaming app is now available for iOS and Android. Copilot can now be accessed by testers through the Xbox mobile app, enabling the assistant to aid with game downloads, accomplishment listing, and much more.

Microsoft revealed this  on Wednesday that the beta version of its Copilot for Gaming experience is already being distributed. The Xbox app for iOS and Android offers beta testers access to the experience.

With this initial edition, you may ask for help or advice on finishing games, see current Xbox achievements fast, and receive game recommendations based on your past gameplay. In later iterations, you will also be able to download and install games on your Xbox Copilot.

The Copilot for Gaming, as it is officially known, even features a voice that can be customized and sounds a lot like the voices in Microsoft’s main Copilot. The two versions of the chatbot have comparable user interfaces.

The assistant can respond to inquiries about the games you’re interested in, provide links to additional information, and respond to queries based on your account, play history, achievements, and other details in the early version of the experience.

Asking something like, “What’s my gamerscore and can you give me some tips to raise it?” is one example. or “I adore scary films.” Do you have any recommendations for a game I should play? One possible query regarding your account or play history might be, “What was the last achievement I got in Starfield?” or “When does my subscription to Game Pass expire?”

According to Xbox principal program manager Taylor O’Malley, “In this early version of the feature for mobile, “you will be able to access Copilot for Gaming on a second screen in this early version of the feature for mobile, without distracting you from your core gameplay experience.” “The companion can answer any questions you have about the games you’re interested in, provide links to additional information when its response includes web sources, or answer questions based on your account, play history, and achievements because it knows what game you’re playing and is aware of your Xbox activity.”

In the future, Microsoft hopes to transform this Copilot into an AI gaming coach that will help you navigate Xbox games. Earlier this year, the Xbox manufacturer showed us how a future Copilot for Gaming interface could help you play Overwatch 2 by highlighting your faults or suggesting hero choices that would enhance the team. Additionally, Microsoft showed off Copilot in Minecraft, allowing you to ask it questions about object crafting. Similarly, Copilot Vision for Windows offers a similar capability.

Copilot uses public data from Bing and your Xbox player behaviour to create an answer after you ask it a question. Microsoft claims to be working on enhancing Copilot for Gaming with more customization options and more comprehensive game support, including proactive coaching.

Copilot for Gaming is now available for testing in the US, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Singapore on the Xbox mobile app beta version. Although the UK and most of Europe don’t appear to be able to access the beta just yet, Microsoft provides a complete list of nations that can do so.

Players in Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Georgia, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong (SAR), India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Libya, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Oman, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkiye, UAE, Ukraine, Uruguay, USA, and Vietnam can access the English-language beta version of Copilot for Gaming if they are over the age of 18.

Microsoft intends to eventually make the experience available in more areas.
