Popular electronics maker, Oppo has on Thursday announced that it is collaborating with ESIM connectivity company, Thales to launch the world’s first 5G SA-Compatible embedded SIM Smartphone, the OPPO Find X3 Pro.
The new product, the 5G Standalone (SA) OPPO Find X3 Pro will have the new 5G broadband experience 5G SA networks offers, together with the benefits of the eSIM technology, according to a joint statement by OPPO and Thales.
According to Thales, the ESIM is directly built into the device, a departure from the known way of physically inserting the SIM cards into the devices. It also said users can have the benefit of having trusted and smooth digital experiences when they want to choose connectivity plans from their mobile operators easily from their Smartphone devices. This entails a digital transformation challenge for mobile operators, which the Thales owned eSIM is ever ready to take up.

The 5G Standalone networks gives the users a more comprehensive 5G experience with lower latency, and a higher flexibility which allows a seamless connectivity experience. It is thus history being made with OPPO and Thales as the first in the world to have an eSIM powered device inculcated with the 5G SA technology.
Oppo Senior Director of Carrier Product, Xia was full of optimism when he declared: “Through our technical collaboration with Thales, we have made the Find X3 Pro one of the first devices in the world to be equipped with 5G SA-Compatible eSIM. As 5G SA networks are being deployed around the world, the addition of 5G SA-Compatible eSIM brings more possibilities for Find X3 Pro users worldwide,”
With more than 200 eSIM management platforms being awarded by mobile platforms, operator alliances, MVNOs and OEMS across the universe, Thales stand out as a world provider of both hardware-based eSIM connectivity and this marriage with Oppo which has earlier been heralded with OPPo Watch, OPPO’s debut smartwatch will further strengthen electronics technology and the users would be the ultimate gainers.

OPPO on its own has since 2018 begun the research and development of eSIM technology in 2018 and has since then rolled out series of eSIM-Compatible smartphones and smartwatches.
The OPPO Find X3 Pro, connected with with a 5G SA-Compatible eSIM has definitely reflected OPPO’s long term investments in the roll out of the 5G Standalone networks, bringing to the fore OPPO’s strong technical expertise to the fore.
