Parag Agrawal, Twitter’s new CEO has started making some changes around the company following his new position as CEO. The new CEO is reorganizing the company’s leadership structure across product and engineering.

On Monday, Jack Dorsey stepped down from his position of Chief Executive Officer at microblogging platform Twitter. The announcement came from the company on Monday and Parag Agrawal, who was Twitter’s Chief Technology Officer was named as Jack Dorsey’s replacement. According to Jack, Twitter was ready to leave its founder’s nest. Although his reasons and explanations were vague, he simply said that “I’ve decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from its founders”. Jack Dorsey’s replacement Parag Agrawal, has been described by the former CEO as trusted and efficient hands.

Speaking about the changes being made, Twitter said in a Friday statement that the changes being made is “to drive increased accountability, speed and operational efficiency. Twitter stated that it was establishing general manager positions and these executives “will lead all core teams across engineering, product management, design, and research”.

Kayvon Beykpour, Twitter’s former head of product has been named as Twitter’s general manager of consumers. Bruce Falk leading Revenue product has been named as general manager of revenue. Nick Caldwell, Twitter’s Vice President of Engineering has been named as general manager of core tech. Apart from these new roles, Lindsey Iannucci, Senior director of strategy and operations, was promoted to Chief of staff and Vice President of operations to support Parag Agrawal.

The decision, according to some comes at quite a fast pace and maybe because in the past Twitter has been criticized for moving slowly. Twitter’s new Head of Corporate Communications, Laura Yagerman, who says Twitter has suffered criticism in the past for moving slowly said that “we want to be able to move quickly and make decisions, and Parag is leading the way with that”.

Twitter also announced that its engineering lead Michael Montano and Head of Design and Research Dantly Davis will both step down from their positions. They will, however, remain as advisors for the company through the first quarter of 2022.
