2026 is becoming a busy year for Paystack. Some days into the new year 2026, the Nigerian fintech startup, which is on its way to becoming a giant in the fintech space, announced the formation of The Stack Group (TSG), a new holding company. The holding company established by Paystack is an effort in its ongoing expansion into banking, consumer finance, and AI-driven product development.
The fintech company took to its LinkedIn page earlier today to announce Paystack’s Zap support for Apple Pay.
Paystack’s Zap, which debuted in early 2025, now accepts Apple Pay as a payment option for quick local transfers in Nigeria. This function eliminates the necessity for a local bank account by enabling both locals and visitors to transfer funds to any Nigerian bank account.
Paystack’s very first customer-facing app, Zap, enables quick and simple transfers for Nigerians and visitors to Nigeria.
African ambition is fuelled by Paystack, and Zap is another step towards a time when all payments, whether made domestically or internationally, will be easy and recognisable.
With infrastructure built to support aspirational Africans everywhere, we see a future in which payments are genuinely seamless for all Africans. Zap is designed to be a dependable partner for payments throughout the continent.
Domino’s Pizza, GIGM, and Axa Mansard Insurance are just a few of the more than 200,000 Nigerian companies that utilise Paystack’s secure payments gateway to take local and international online payments. Paystack is easy to set up and integrates for free. Take a ride with us today.
As a first-time user for the integration, you can go to the Paystack dashboard’s Preferences page and select the Apple Pay option to activate Apple Pay on your integration. After that, you’ll be asked to accept the Apple Pay Platform Web Merchant Terms and Conditions in order to enable Apple Pay.
The following are the main characteristics of Apple Pay on Zap:
- Instant Funding: Instead of logging into standard bank apps, you can use Apple Pay to finance transfers right within the Zap app.
- No Local Account Needed: Foreign visitors can “pay like a local” by transferring Naira to Nigerian bank accounts using their current Apple Pay setup.
- Tier Requirements: Users must be at Tier 2 or Tier 3 of the Zap verification process in order to link and utilise Apple Pay.
- High Completion Rates: The majority of transfers are completed in a matter of seconds thanks to the integration’s design to minimise transaction failures.
Here’s a step forward to begin as a new user
- Zap download: Zap can be downloaded via the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store.
- Complete Verification: To get to the necessary tier, confirm your identity and phone number (KYC).
- Link Apple Pay: Choose Apple Pay as a linked payment option in the app’s settings.
- Send Money: Use the “Scan to Pay” tool to automatically identify account numbers, or enter the recipient’s bank information.
Paystack has been seen to be a growing business, with over 200,000 businesses in Africa alone relying on Paystack’s infrastructure, which we have spent years developing. We are now thrilled to present Zap, our first consumer product and a significant step towards simplifying, expediting, and improving everyday payments.
Paystack’s Zap is a mobile app for safe, quick bank transfer payments. Zap, which is built on the same reliable infrastructure that facilitates millions of transactions every day, is intended to reduce friction in the flow of money, allowing you to send money swiftly, safely, and without any delays or pending transactions.
Both Nigerian citizens and foreign visitors can now use Zap. Our long-term goal is to make Zap accessible throughout Africa.
