In a few weeks, Google's iPhone app for wirelessly switching to Android will be available to Pixel owners -

Switching from an iPhone to an Android device can be somewhat difficult as this switch requires a user to bring along as much data as possible. While backing up these things on Google Drive is a solution provided by the search giant Google is an option, well Google is adding another option that helps users make this switch wirelessly. Google has now built an iOS app called Switch to Android which is set to get the job done much faster and effortlessly.

The new app, Switch to Android made its way into the App Store recently, last week precisely, though for now, it’s unlisted so you’d need the link to dig it up in the store. According to reports making rounds, Google has reached a resolution to roll the app out to the public, but it may take a little while before users can actually start using it. A Google spokesperson Ivy Hunt has confirmed that the rollout of Switch to Android should be complete in the coming weeks. Hunt disclosed that an update is coming to Pixel devices that allows Pixel users to use the app. Once these updates are ready on the Pixel devices, then the app will be available in the markets where Pixel phones are available for sale.

Once the Switch to Android app is active, users will be able to initiate the transfer process, a QR code will pop on the iPhone device which users can copy from, the  Pixel can scan this QR code and start the process of loading photos, videos, contacts, and calendar events without “fussy cables.”

For users who might be wondering if the app is compatible with only Pixel devices alone, well yes for now. The app is called Switch to Android, not Switch to Pixel, so we should all be right to assume that it should be compatible with other android devices. The first and only phones it’s compatible with for now are Pixels, of course, if not the Pixel first what else, considering Google is responsible for the Pixel lineup. However, we are yet to find out when the Switch to Android app will be available for other Android phones, or from which manufacturers.
