Redesigned Google Shopping Page with AI

AI is being used to rethink Google Shopping. The Shopping Graph has been merged with Gemini, and the website has been redesigned with a new logo.

The revamped home page, the AI-powered research, more individualized results, and tools for discovering deals like price comparison, pricing insights, and price monitoring are just a few of the new Google Shopping features that Google has unveiled.

Instead of instantly sending customers to other websites, Google wants to retain them on its platform for longer.

Some of these, such as the AI-researched Google Shopping and the updated shopping interface that encompasses the majority of Google’s today’s releases, were previously apparent to us. Although you are previously aware of these changes, Google has now made them public.

To set itself apart from e-commerce platforms like Amazon.com Inc., Alphabet Inc.’s Google revamped its shopping website to better connect customers with merchant storefronts. Similar to a social networking app, the revamped shopping experience mostly consists of scrollable feeds. A customized feed of goods, reviews, and automatically playing video snippets from Google’s YouTube will be shown on a new home page. A similar carefully selected stream of reduced products will be available on a Deals page.

Google Shopping searches will provide artificial intelligence-generated summaries that highlight crucial aspects to take into account for certain products, such as the kind of material used in a jacket intended for a rainy environment. Initially, the functionalities will be accessible in the United States.

The makeover is the company’s most recent attempt to keep customers on Google’s platform longer while they are looking for everything from flights to recipes, instead than sending them straight to other websites. Some opponents claim that the company’s May introduction of AI Overviews, which condenses the information of search results, may decrease click-through rates to websites that rely on visitor ad income.

At 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday in New York, Alphabet’s stock increased by less than 1% to $165.79. As of Monday’s closing, the stock had up 18% so far this year.

Google Shopping only provides users with product listings, unlike the online marketplaces of rival tech behemoths Amazon and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.

Compared to Amazon, “we see ourselves playing a different role,” Prior to the announcement, Maria Renz, the general manager of commerce and vice president of Google, stated in an interview. “Google’s mission has always been to support a robust ecosystem.”

From browsing recommended products on Google Shopping to viewing YouTube product reviews to finding physical vendors on Google Maps, shoppers may thoroughly investigate a possible purchase without ever leaving Google’s array of websites.

However, there may be a threat to the company’s array of highly interconnected goods. The US Justice Department is thinking of requesting a split that may spin off significant portions of Google’s portfolio, such as the Chrome web browser and the Android operating system, following a historic antitrust verdict that concluded the corporation had unlawfully monopolized the search industry.

According to officials, Google has not thought about directly competing with e-commerce shops by managing shipping and payment through Google Shopping.

In an interview, Sean Scott, Google’s vice president and general manager of consumer commerce, stated, “We don’t ship anything, we don’t take payments, and we don’t have inventory—we’re also not trying to maximize profit on a per product basis.” That’s a “unique advantage,” according to Scott.

“I would never say never” in reference to the option to check out and pay on Google Shopping, Scott remarked. “All we’re attempting to do is assist in bringing customers and retailers together.”

There is nothing new that merchants and retailers need to do. Google stated: “Merchants may take part in the new Google Shopping without taking any additional steps. Keep improving your Google visibility.
