In-Depth Review: Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge

Making substantial waves in the current smartphone market, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge seamlessly continue the rich legacy of its award-winning predecessor. Cleverly packaged in a compact shell, the Samsung Galaxy S7 presents itself as a high-performance device, bearing a strong resemblance and housing many admired qualities of its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S6 – most notable of which is the unique curved edge feature.

However, the novelty of the curved edge started to wear thin after some time, prompting Samsung to innovate once more. Thus, the bold emergence of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge took place. The frontal facade of these devices bears uncanny resemblances to prior models, maintaining the familiarity and comfort of their minimalist aesthetic.

With the introduction of the S7 Edge, Samsung succeeded in generating lively reactions from diversified segments of tech enthusiasts. The device is a brilliant amalgamation of masterstroke design changes, the most captivating of which is the expansive yet ergonomic screen build. The delicately curved rear enables easy handling and flexibility of use.

A significant enhancement in the S7 series is its notable feature: waterproofing. Coupled with the provision of a microSD card slot, the phones are powerfully equipped for varied user scenarios – from grueling outdoor adventures to moments of leisurely relaxation. Their waterproofing capability opens a new world of possibilities. To illustrate its effectiveness, with their immense power, it’s imaginable to affix them on a speeding boat’s back, cutting through the waters of the Atlantic. Furthermore, the battery performance drastically improves from previous models, boasting 24 hours of runtime on a single charge.

The price tag of both models is comparably steep. The UK market situates each model at approximately 630 pounds. Meanwhile, the US market offers them with a 2-year contract for $299, with an unlocked model floating around $600. Despite their hefty price, the unique features and performance capabilities justify the cost.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are mirrored twins in design and specification, with the crucial distinction being the latter’s overall appeal. The S7 Edge breaks molds with its cutting-edge visuals alone. The S7, on the other hand, prioritizes functionality, boasting similar specifications as its sibling within a more compact, manageable size.

A primary selling point of both models is the camera’s user-friendliness and functionality. Double tapping the home button initiates the camera, which, although not as fast as other competitors, provides a usable and intuitive interface. Both models allow the volume down button to capture photos, providing added steadiness for better shots.

A standout feature of the Galaxy S7 Edge’s camera is its similarity to the iPhone camera interface. This seemingly simplistic feature has sparked comparison and praise from users and tech critics alike. However, the ‘motion photo’ feature on the Galaxy S7 Edge has received mixed reviews. This feature records a short video before a photo is taken, resulting in low-res, silent clips, which some users found to draw away from the devices’ appeal.

Through rigorous testing, both models display a suite of features that captivate a wide variety of users, further cementing their popularity within contemporary smartphone markets. In conclusion, Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge promise a fascinating blend of aesthetic appeal, functionality, and performance that truly warrants their place in the high-end spectrum of smartphones.
