South Korean brand; Samsung could be another major brand to join brands like OnePlus to partner with a camera manufacturer for its flagship smartphones. According to rumours, Samsung is in talks with Olympus about a possible partnership.

Olympus manufactures optics and reprography products. The company is well known for its world-class products and was established on the 12th of October 1919, but when it started, it was only producing thermometers and microscopes. It is a Japan-based company and holds about 70 percent share of the global endoscope market. Olympus is known for its professional cameras and according to rumors, apart from making cameras for the brand in the future, the company may be offering branding and expertise in key areas of photography and videography for future Samsung flagship phones.

While there is already information saying that Olympus cameras may debut with either a special edition of Samsung Galaxy Fold or with the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, a report by Mashable confirms that no partnership has been confirmed by either Samsung or Olympus.

Samsung’s partnership with Olympus, when confirmed to be true will not be the first of its kind between a smartphone brand and an optics company. OnePlus recently partnered with Sweden-based Hasselblad for its OnePlus 9 series. Vivo’s X series smartphones are built with cameras from Zeiss optics. Nokia, owned by HMD Global has been in a long partnership with Zeiss optics for its flagship models, while Huawei has Leica-powered camera lenses for its flagship phones.

Mashable, in its report cited another report by Tom’s Guide France which asserts leaksters ‘FrontTron’ and ‘Ice Universe’ confirming that there would be a partnership between Samsung and Olympic in the future. That future might as well be now.

Samsung has one of the best cameras in the mobile business and its collaboration with Olympus, when confirmed to be true might mean that the company is working to improve its already great cameras.
