In an era when vast amounts of information beats at the heart of businesses all over the world, data storage and management is an ever-pressing concern. Just weeks ago, tech titan Seagate unveiled a trio of 10TB hard drives that set the tech industry buzzing. With the 10TB Barracuda Pro drive costing a cool $535, only those with a well-planned tech budget can relish in such digital storage largesse.

Yet, today, Seagate ups the ante. The tech stalwart has announced its newest offering, an impressively massive 60TB solid-state drive (SSD) tailor-made for the business sector. This gargantuan storage solution forms part of the company’s strategic expansion of its data center portfolio tailored for organizations. If the 10TB storage seemed colossal, contemplate a capacity six folds that! To offer a better grasp of its capacity, a Business Wire post breaks down the 60TB storage capabiltiy: it can hold up to 12,000 DVD movies or 400 million photos.

“The 60TB SAS SSD revolutionizes the process of sorting “hot” from “cold” data, enabling data centers to use the same enterprise HDD 3.5 inch storage form factor. This eliminates the need of categorizing data between immediate availability and long-term storage — a complex decision based largely on estimations of future data usage. Now, data centers can depend on an SSD that accommodates large data volumes without the constraint of adding more servers or managing additional steps. The drive’s flexible architecture paves the way for data centers to seamlessly scale from the current 60TB capacity to 100TB or more in the future — all within the same form factor.”

With this trailblazing development, Seagate has built the world’s single largest storage repository. This magnificent device will be launched in 2017 – for now, only a demo version is accessible. This is indeed a breakthrough that signals a giant leap forward in meeting the voluminous data storage requirements of contemporary business establishments.
