Windows 11 Is Going To Be The Ultimate Skype Killer

Several leaks about the upcoming Windows 11 have suggested different expectations. Still, the original software is announced to roll out this week. Another leak about a possible Windows 11 release revealing a severe change aside from its Windows Store, taskbar, start-up tone, UI, Edge browser, etc.

This leak appears to be the final hints about Microsoft’s flagship software — it appears that some of the Windows apps that have been preinstalled by default have been omitted. For contrast, the video conferencing platform, Skype, will not roll out with Windows 11 by default like it usually does.

While Skype exists, Microsoft developed a subsidiary video conferencing platform called Meet Now — this allows users to launch directly into its parent video conferencing app, Skype. This feature is accessible via the desktop version that allows users to communicate with an existing account without signing up first.

Microsoft developed Meet Now to duly integrate with Skype after the Coronavirus outbreak — at the time the integration bolstered communication between family and friends with ease. Omitting both Skype and Meet Now that has represented Microsoft’s flagships depicts the next-generation Windows will be finite.

It worth noting that Skype was only omitted but not terminated — meaning that Windows 11 will still be able to function in per with Microsoft’s video conferencing platforms. After this software rolls out, Skype Meet will be downloaded from Windows Store — this depicts a huge upgrade of service by Microsoft.

The software company has served as Skype’s parent company for a decade — in 2011, Microsoft acquired the video conferencing app for billions of dollars. While the platform has reportedly faced criticism which has hindered its progress. Although Skype is well regarded for its call quality, still users want something out of the ordinary — critics suggested developing new features to bolster its call quality.

Since the pandemic, Skype has reportedly gained lesser users compared to Teams’, the current flagship video conferencing app by Microsoft. Teams is expected to rival Skype — since Microsoft once revealed Skype will be reserved for online business from July 31, 2021. While other business customers will have to migrate to use Teams for video conferencing.

This leak also serves as an encouragement for Microsoft’s user-base to get prepared with embracing Teams. After Windows 11 rolls out, Microsoft revealed they have promising tweaks and new features to improve the Teams’ functionalities overtime. Microsoft has organized a free upgrade workshop, an extensive transitional guide for its business customers (corporate companies).

Henceforth, Microsoft Teams’ is likely to roll out with Windows 11 by default while Skype relocates to the Store. It’s an ideal move for Microsoft to encourage its users to embrace Teams’ as its current flagship product. Remember, Skype Meet Now will also be replaced with Teams Meet & Char.
