Share Memories More Easily With Snapchat New “Shared Stories” Feature

Snapchat rolls out a new feature called “Shared Stories” to its already vast list of exciting features. “Today, we’re introducing Shared Stories, a new way for Snapchatters to build a community around the content they love to snap,” Snap said in a blog post. Shared Stories is designed to make it easier for users on the app to collaborate and share memories. Just like the “Custom Stories” feature, this new feature is a type of reconditioning to that. Using the new feature, users will now be able to create stories and then invite their friends to add their stories. An interesting thing is, that the new feature lets your friends invite their friends to add and collaborate on that particular shared story. 

The company reveals that this new feature is one that would help users turn shared moments into shared memories. “With this next generation Story, we’re hoping to help Snapchatters turn shared moments into shared memories,” Snapchat says. As earlier stated, the new feature showcase similarities to the already existing custom stories, one which allows you to invite your friends to a story, this feature take the excitement much further as it lets your friends invite their other friends to contribute and share their memories to a story.

Just like other stories, you must have seen various exciting social platforms disappear after 24 hours, the new Snapchat feature is nothing different – stay for 24 hours and then disappear. Reports say this feature will be very useful for a group of people who share the same passion or culture, for instance: a football club or a cricket team as they can invite fans from all over to create a shared memory.

According to a blog post by the company, “With the new and improved Shared Stories, Snapchatters who’ve been added to the group can add their friends as well, making it easier for the whole soccer team, camp squad, or group of new coworkers to get in on the fun.” 

In a case where a user joins a Shared Story with someone such user has blocked on the social platform, Snapchat will notify such user, Snapchat users are always in control should they choose to leave the Shared Story. The company explains that “We also notify Snapchatters if they have joined a Shared Story with someone they have blocked. This gives Snapchatters the opportunity to leave the Shared Story, and ensures Snapchatters are always in complete control over who they share content with on our platform.” 

How to use the Snapchat Shared Stories feature

1. Open Snapchat and click on the Profile icon on the top left.
2. Click on the “+New Story” option next to the My Stories header.
3. Select Shared Stories from the list of options.

This new feature is said to be a follow up to a recently feature Snap introduced to users called the Director Mode, the feature is designed with the aim of providing easier access to Snapchat’s native creative tools for publishing video on its platform, including to its short-form video feature known as Spotlight. Year over year Snapchat continues to showcase growth especially with the recent announcement of its plans to introduce a number of new initiatives designed to work with its AR technology in a bid to aid online shopping.
