Short video clips may soon be available in additional parts of the Spotify app. In a test reported by Music Ally, you can swipe through a vertical feed of videos that are shorter than 30 seconds on a playlist on the streaming platform.

To facilitate artist engagement with fans and promote their music, Spotify originally launched clips last year. However, at the time, the platform only displayed clips on artist profiles, album sites, and album countdown pages. That appears to be changing, though, as Music Ally reported that short videos from musicians like Sabrina Carpenter and Benson Boone are now appearing at the top of Spotify’s “Pop Drive” playlist.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek pointed to the growth of clips during an earnings call last month, as noted by Music Ally, stating, “You’re going to see music clips in a bigger way.”

Spotify is rolling out a TikTok-like vertical video feed

Spotify has been developing the resources available to musicians so they can market their music and make it easier for listeners to locate them. Spotify strengthened its relationship with the record label and introduced music videos amid TikTok’s recently resolved dispute with Universal Music Group. This allowed artists to share teasers of upcoming tracks.

Furthermore, as plans to advance the technology of the streaming platform, Spotify recently introduced AI playlists. Spotify established itself as a pacesetter as it stands as the first music streaming service to adopt generative AI. Spotify’s AI playlist function, which is still in testing, enables premium customers to create a personalized playlist through text prompts. The streaming platform continues to record significant growth, proving to its audience it’s here to stay.
