System App Updates for Android Now Hidden on Google Play Store

The Google Play Store is not displaying available updates for system-level apps, which might be a problem or a change in behaviour.

The following is a list of popular Google applications that indicate “Update” when you go directly to the Play Store listing but don’t show up in the Pending downloads list:

Android System Intelligence, Google Partner Setup, Android Switch, Pixel Weather, Google Wi-Fi Provisioner, Settings Services, YouTube Music, YouTube

This problem still exists, and we’ve seen it affect YouTube, a pre-installed program, on a number of devices. Even though the Play Store informed us that a new update was ready, there is nothing to install when we visit the Pending downloads screen. It may be updated when you go straight to the app listing.

This is occurring with Google Partner Setup once more:

Devices that use Google Mobile Services must have Google Partner Setup installed.

This app cannot be deactivated or removed since it is pre-installed by the device maker to guarantee correct device operation on all Android devices with Google Mobile Services.

In order to provide bug fixes, enhancements, and important updates for your device more quickly, Google has transferred this app to the Play Store. This Play Store listing hasn’t resulted in any additional modifications.

Your smartphone won’t get an update for this app if it is running Android 7 or a previous version. Although this app can say that it is incompatible with your device, this does not always mean that the app is broken or that your device is broken as a result of the app.

If a Play Store message today indicates you have one more update that’s not visible in the Pending downloads page, that missing app is Google’s Data Restore Tool:

This system program lets you recover data from your previous phone utilizing a cable or a cloud backup. Your Android device already has the app installed.

Only a direct Google Play connection may access and update it. Additionally, the app is not shown among the installed apps.

The Pending downloads screen is where this problem occurs. While other apps appear correctly, system programs with available updates just do not appear here.

This issue was initially brought to our attention a few weeks ago. Most recently, it happened with Google Wi-Fi Provisioner and Settings Services, both of which received upgrades in the last few days.

Strangely, a system program that has been updated will display in Google Play’s “new updates” message, but it won’t show up when you go to the page to start it. This may also occur when an alert indicates that you have, say, three app updates, but only two of them are new.

This could be a deliberate modification, similar to how Google Play Services is automatically updated via the Play Store but never shows up on the Pending downloads page. It’s possible that Google is broadening the scope of system-level programs that receive such treatment.

Nevertheless, such system apps never install the most recent version if you have auto updates turned off. As a result, you must manually update the listing after learning of the download’s availability elsewhere.

Try cleaning up the cache and data in the Play Store, then restarting both the Play Store app and your device if your Google Play Store isn’t displaying updates for Android system apps.

Additionally, you may do some simple tests, such as checking for a solid connection, storage capacity, and device restart. examining Android system upgrades, Google Play Store app problems, and any other possible problems you believe you can investigate.
