The probationary officer post in the State Bank of India is an immensely reputable position that is highly valued and offers a lot to individuals who apply for the same. Every year a lot of aspiring students study for the competitive exam to work as probationary officers in the State Bank of India. Dedication, hard work, and perseverance are the essential qualities a candidate must possess in order to get selected for this position and for the door to work as a probationary officer. Candidates are selected for this post after thorough judgment held by a competitive exam. The SBI bank rolls out forms for this competitive exam once every year to recruit candidates for this particular post. To appear for the exam candidates must meet certain age and educational qualifications. Candidates applying for the exam should be graduates from any subject and are expected to be between the age of 21 to 30 years. To know more about the eligibility criteria, visit this website. The examination is in a three-tier pattern in which candidates must pass every single stage. The preliminary test is the first stage followed by the main exam after which there is an interview with a group discussion.

The prelim exam consists of 100 questions for one hour for one mark each the duration for which is an hour. The prelim exam consists of English language questions, quantitative aptitude questions, and logical reasoning questions. The main exam consists of 155 questions for 200 marks. The marks vary depending on the topic. The main exam is held for 3 hours and it’s considered fairly challenging as the sections are demanding. This exam section includes reasoning and computer aptitude, data analysis and interpretation, economic and banking awareness, and English language questions. The prelim exam is now conducted online. The occupancy for the SBI post has reduced significantly which is why the exam has now become even more cutthroat as very few candidates are selected. Having discussed the probationary officer exam and its syllabus, this article will further move into what life as an SBI probationary officer should look like.

The probationary officer post is highly reputable with a decent salary and perks offered by the state of India bank. Candidates Are often attracted to this post for the growth it offers along with the incentives, which is why the number of candidates applying to this post has increased over the years. The job profile entails clerical activities, customer services, processing loans, marketing new schemes, and implementing strategies for bringing new business into the bank. The selected candidates can also take up on-site training at SBI training institutes. The probationary officers are trained at specific time intervals with the required intellectual capacities and banking specifications; this indeed helps the officers keep up to date with their knowledge and enhance the same with the new and advanced technological and theoretical advancements in the particular sector.

Some additional benefits of this bank job are medical insurance which covers 100% for the candidate and 75% coverage for the family members. Other perks include newspaper allowance, books and magazine allowance, petrol allowance, house maintenance allowance, telephone bill reimbursement, entertainment allowance and a pension scheme contribution. The selected candidates have an increment in the salary every year and the amount of increment is decided on the basis of the period of service given by the candidates. The candidates are also promoted to a higher position depending on their performance.

The promoted posts include deputy manager, assistant manager, chief manager, general manager, managing director, chairman, depending upon the choice and capability of the candidate. This position remains one of the most sought after positions and rightly so because of the stable job prospects it offers with the salary increase and scope of growth. This position is ideal for somebody who thrives on the challenges of the real world. Individuals who want to grow at every coming step of their career are likely to take up this job as it is full of opportunities and advancements in their role as probationary officers.

Every coin has two sides, so does this position. candidates who are selected for this position are often susceptible to work under pressure and find it a little compelling. the higher the position the harder it can be for the officers to manage and juggle between tasks at times.

They often have to manage customer complaints, routine operations, asset quality, deal with the staff complaints, and handle the branch to make sure it is working in cohesion. At times this position might seem overwhelming as it demands a lot, officers also need to make decisions that affect a certain set of individuals and their own career progression. After two years of service, officers are either enrolled as branch managers or in a controlling position depending upon the choice of candidate and skill acquired within the two years of service. Officers thrive to achieve work-life balance with this position.

The position that the candidate acquires might seem compelling but it is nothing that cannot be achieved with the right management, delegating the work and performing as a team. The work pressure is more than a regular government job but the right candidates strive through and make the best even in the most severe situations under immense pressure and overburdening tasks. The work environment might not always be the best as the seniors aren’t always supportive towards the newcomers, so they might have to learn everything from scratch. Another major benefit of this job would be frequent transfers. There is a provisional compulsory transfer every three months which might be exhausting for candidates as they have to move quite frequently. Some of these postings might be in rural areas and due to a very high rural penetration, a lot of candidates are transferred into remote areas.

With the good and bad laid in front of you the choice to take up a career as a posting officer at the State Bank of India is up to you to decide. All the very best!
