We hope you have had a great and “techy” week. Here’s a roundup of news for the week ending 10th of October, 2014.
First we start with the big news of HP splitting into two major companies. According to CEO Meg Whitman, this is to position the HP brand on a path to higher efficiency and profitability. Along with this as you might expect would be up to 5,000 job cuts as well. Read more here.

We also reported that Facebook is working on a user to user money sending service using its messenger app. As revealed by someone familiar with the project, this process is going to be as easy as you sending/sharing photos only this time, you get to have a PIN to provide you with extra security. Facebook is also reportedly working on an anonymous App. This app will enable a user interact with other users online anonymously. Read more here
Across the Atlantic now, remember Konga.com? The Ecommerce giant based in Nigeria. The company has reportedly raised a new round of funding and we hear it’s about $40m. This is to enable the firm expand its engineering operations. Find out more here

Lest we forget, NITEL; the Nigerian national carrier will soon be privatised again. the company is in dire need of restructuring. The Bureau of Public enterprise just cleared the way for this. Read more here
Apple is to host a media event on the 16th of this month where it is widely expected to unveil its new opertaing system “Yosemite” for the Mac. Find out more here
