Threads Tests Feature to Import Social Graphs and Find X Creators

Meta is putting out a new feature that will make it simpler to move from X to Threads. The new option is coming out today in beta and lets you to “follow the same popular creators you’re following on X.”

A new feature that intends to facilitate the import of the social network from other microblogging sites is reportedly being tested by Threads. A tipster claims that it is presently in beta and not accessible to all users. It is anticipated that the functionality would make it simple for users to follow similar accounts on Threads as they do on X (previously Twitter) without having to look for and follow the creator by hand.

Jane Manchun Wong, a security engineer and former Meta employee, noticed the functionality and described it in an X post. According to reports, it can be found in the Follow and invite friends area of the Threads app’s settings.

Known as producers from X, it allows users to follow the same well-known producers on Threads that they now follow on X. To accomplish this, follow this guide outlined below:

Step 1: Tap on the user profile after opening Threads.

Step 2: Select Settings > Privacy > Account.

Step 3: You will see an opportunity to download your archived data. You might have to wait up to three days after selecting the option before receiving a download link in your email.

Step 4: Download the data file, then unzip it.

Step 5: Locate and upload the following.js file to the Threads website.

A Meta spokesperson Alec Booker told TechCrunch in a statement that they are currently testing a way for every individual to find and follow creators from other platforms on Threads, making it easier to connect with the people and conversations that matter to every individual.

However, this function is currently unavailable to all users. According to the security engineer, only a select few users may access it at this time because it is in beta and testing.

As you can see, it’s not a very smooth or speedy process, but it’s probably the only way Meta may implement a function like this given X’s API limits. Although not everyone has access to the function yet, you may check your Threads account online to see whether you do.

Learning to put back your social graph on every platform is one of the issues with the current fragmented social media environment. Although it would have been ideal if Meta had released this functionality sooner, now is better than never.
