In order to enable users to explore fascinating material and contribute their creativity, the safety teams monitor TikTok for safety and strive to safeguard the community. Creating and updating community guidelines, identifying possible damages, upholding various TikTok laws, and emphasizing employee well-being were all part of its activities.

Among its activities were the development and revision of community rules, the identification of possible risks, the upkeep of different TikTok policies, and the emphasis on personnel welfare.

The site also let go of hundreds of workers from its global workforce in October of last year, including roughly 400 personnel in Malaysia, as it refocused on using AI more extensively for content moderation. TikTok’s content moderation procedures employed the majority of the personnel involved.

The platform’s operations head, who is also in charge of the section, reportedly informed the staff of the change in a note sent out on Thursday. Additionally, it was thought that teams in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa would begin layoffs on the same day.

According to TikTok, its 40,000 specialists make up its global trust and safety.

In a puzzle game, the creators use “TikTok, We are Safer Together” as the last block.

TikTok, a well-known platform for video content, is restructuring and is laying off employees worldwide at its trust and safety business. The unit manages the moderation of various types of material and implements community guidelines.

The platform’s operations head, who is also in charge of the section, reportedly informed the staff of the change in a note sent out on Thursday.

TikTok’s safety teams strive to safeguard its user base and keep an eye on the platform to ensure that users can share their creativity and explore amusing material. Its activities included writing and revising community standards, identifying possible risks, upholding different TikTok policies, and putting staff welfare first.

The company also laid off hundreds of employees from its global workforce, including about 400 in Malaysia, in October of last year as it refocused on employing AI more broadly for content moderation. The bulk of those implicated were employed by TikTok’s content moderation processes.

President Donald Trump of the United States signed an executive order on January 20th that postponed the enforcement action against TikTok for 75 days? A day after TikTok shut down in the U.S. owing to a “sell or ban” regulation, the order brought the video content site back online in the nation. Prior to the law’s implementation on January 19, which shut it down for national security reasons, the platform ceased functioning for users in the United States.

With a statute that President Biden signed into law in April 2024, TikTok has been fighting for months. In order to avoid a restriction that would prevent its download from app stores, ByteDance must sell its U.S. operations to a different owner by January 19.

According to three people with knowledge of the situation, TikTok is restructuring and will be laying off worldwide employees at its trust and safety unit, which manages content moderation, on Thursday.

The layoffs began the same day for teams in Asia and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, two of the sources said.

The CEO of TikTok had stated that the firm would invest over $2 billion in safety and trust initiatives in response to inquiries from Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
