The transfer of harmful microorganisms, usually bacteria and viruses, between people, pieces of equipment, or within the body can cause many complications, with medical professionals working hard to reduce what is known as ‘Cross Infection’.

It is on the aegis of this that TriMedika, a medical technology manufacturer famed for the provision of clinical devices for hospitals worldwide, developed its “game-changing” thermometer, while showcasing its products at the ABHI UK Pavilion at MEDICA 2021, with sole aim of preventing cross-infection in hospitals.

Inspired by first-hand experience of healthcare challenges, with the application of fresh thinking ideas to solve simple, yet critical daily issues, the innovative medical technology company, with its avowed mission to improve patient care globally with technology that protects patients, decided to lead the way with the development of the new thermometer.

It is in lieu of this that Trimedika top product, TRITEMP, a medically graded professional non-contact thermometer, a precision engineered tool was designed to positively impact patient care and control infection across healthcare globally.

The COVID-19 pandemic came with its twists and turns but it further highlighted the importance of infection risks associated with contact, even when there was clear need for the product before Coronavirus struck.

The Chief Operating Officer of Trimedika, Julie Brien has this to say about the new tool:

“There have been very few developments within the thermometry industry for many years. So, we set about designing a non-contact infrared thermometer, accurate and robust enough to stand up to use in busy hospital wards”.

“The benefits in terms of infection control and improved patient comfort are significant,” he noted.

With the mass deployment of the device in the offing, more than 1000 hospitals globally, including specialist units such as neonatal wards and ICU’s, have adopted the use of TRITEMP, with Hospitals now gaining many benefits across staffing, workflows and costs, with the introduction of the device.

With the help of its various distribution partners, TriMedika supplies the product to hospitals in at least 21 countries, while it plans to penetrate the U.S. market in 2022.

The new device success has began  to rub on Timedika as it was shortlisted for Disruptor of the Year at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2021, with Trimedika CEO Dr Roisin Molloy, also in the running for the prestigious EY Entrepreneur of the Year.

In the word of Paul Benton, managing director, International at ABHI:

“We’re excited that TriMedika have chosen to showcase their innovative solution on the ABHI Pavilion, where they’re joined by some of the most exciting and forward-thinking UK companies across the medical world. We look forward to welcoming them.”
