Twitter has now officially transitioned government accounts to the new Biden administration from the Trump administration. The new thing here is that the United States now has a Second Gentleman following this historic swearing in of Kamala Harris as the Vice President of the United States. They created a @SecondGentleman account for Douglas Emhoff, VP Kamala Harris’ husband.

The transferred accounts include The accounts include @WhiteHouse, @POTUS, @VP, @FLOTUS and @PressSec.

As with their practice since the Obama days, they have also archived the same accounts from the Trump administration. Tweets from those accounts are now publicly archived at @POTUS45, @WhiteHouse45, @VP45, @PressSec45, @FLOTUS45 and @SecondLady45.

This means that no one can update those accounts but they will remain in the public domain for research and reference purposes. The Obama archived accounts are still online for anyone to access.

Twitter tags government accounts especially United States so anyone interacting with them knows.
