Popular micro-blogging platform, Twitter has indicated willingness to comply with India’s new social media regulations known as the IT Act.

The Social Media platform also confirmed it would establish an Indian Liaison in the coming weeks to ensure a seamless cooperation between the Tech giant and the Indian government.

In the wake of the lingering feud between Twitter and the government of India, the authorities in India had stated that it would require that Twitter show accountability for user’s posts, the Jack Dorsey founded company has now made known its intention to fully comply with the new social media rules mooted by India.

It is understood that Twitter had already made the move to assign an interim chief compliance officer, and would align with the demands of the Indian Government by appointing an employee to address law enforcement requests, and also set up a Twitter India Liaison office within the next eight weeks.

The new condition will make case for an Indian judge to take actions against the company, in the event of non-compliance to the IT Act by Twitter.

Indian immediate past Minister of IT and Communications had in a riot act to Social Media companies, lambasted Twitter for being at variance with the state’s laws and regulations, while calling on other social media firms to abide with the new regulations.

Other Tech companies including Google and Facebook had in the aftermath of the charge rolled out plans to align with the new directive, to forestall further animosity with the Indian state.
