Outgoing United States President Trump Gets A Permanent Twitter Boot

On Friday, Twitter finally banned the outgoing president from accessing its social platform after he was forewarned by the microblogging company about sharing tweets that is likely to incite violence. He was initially blocked temporarily earlier this week for instigating the uprising at Capitol Hill with the post he shared via his accounts which he refused to take down.

While anticipating the 20th of January, the inauguration of the new president-elect Joe Biden, Twitter has seen traces of potential violence to hinder the progress of the ceremony and decided to permanently restrict Trump after he was warned with a temporary suspension.

In context to the outgoing president’s latest tweet that resulted in him getting permanently banned after he was warned with the initial suspension because he poses a risk to public safety which is likely to stimulate more disorder in jeopardy of the forthcoming inauguration. Even though Trump’s account has accumulated over 88 million followers overtime, Twitter rebuffs to regard the president as a preferential user.

Iteratively, Trump has reportedly defied the social media company’s regulations posting series of tweets that could either be labeled as hate speech or false information, the outgoing president keeps challenging the president-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the last presidential election.

Twitter said “After a close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence. Plans for future armed protests have already begun proliferating on and off-Twitter, including a proposed secondary attack on the U.S. Capitol and state capitol building on January 17, 2021.”

After the Capitol Hill menace that occurred on Wednesday in which five civilians lost their lives, whereas Trump’s rally interrupted the Congress meeting that intended to certify the intense 2020 November election. The attack at Washington also paused the count until the law enforcement came to the rescue in which the top social media companies such as Facebook Inc and Twitter Inc felt it is ideal to take necessary actions by suspending his accounts at the time.

The social media company has always had reasons to have restricted the outgoing president’s account before the recent events at Capitol Hill but Twitter has been unenthusiastic about imposing its penalties on the office that interests the public; the more stunts a person of interest like Trump pulled has attracted more users on every social platform to witness Trump directly.

Nonetheless, Twitter has received a lot of pressurized comments even from its employee compelling the social media company to curb the outgoing president’s activity on its social platform because he keeps spreading untrue facts about anyone that opposes his will, inciting violence.

Overtime, critics have always wanted social media companies to enact their policies as Trump has iteratively violated rules. since he is a person of interest, Twitter had to devise screened messages to hide offensive tweets, making them unavailable unless it is clicked by a user, then it appears.

For instance, in 2017 when Trump directed a series of tweets to the North Korean government threatening their existence. Based on Twitter’s policy, the outgoing president has violated its socializing rules not to share violent threats as tweets. At the beginning of 2021, Twitter already flagged several of Trump’s tweet because it contains hate speeches and false information.

“In the context of horrific events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violation of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action,” Twitter said.

On Friday, Donald Trump shared a Tweet that he will not be attending the inauguration ceremony of previous vice president Joe Biden who won the 2020 November election. Without further ado, Twitter took pleasure in placing a permanent ban on his social accounts to prevent him from glorifying violence, avoiding the incident that happened the previous Wednesday.
