...this security key serves as a two-factor authentication without SMS.

Lately,  Twitter has revealed several announcements about upgrading its security system within its microblogging network. Twitter users can now use a security key that serves as a two-factor authentication tool — this feature is reportedly available for all OS platforms, including Android, iOS, and desktop users.

The two-factor security passcode that authenticates your access to internet platforms has reportedly featured as the most secured means of protecting your social life on the web. Still, the Twitter security key is originated from the microblogging network which authenticates in-house security login.

This tech gives Twitter the edge to secure its user’s login as promised — although it is not a new method of securing things via the web. Still, you can activate it on Twitter to backup your usual password — in a scenario where your password gets compromised, the security key is required to maintain a firm firewall.

For example, a visible security code stands at a better chance of not getting hack or intercepted, but the two-factor security authentication is likely to get intercepted because the passcode will be sent to you either an SMS or via the authenticator app.

“Now security keys can be your only two-factor authentication method on mobile and web.” According to Twitter’s Supports tweet that does not rely on third-parties two-factor authentication — get detailed comprehension about Twitter’s security key.

Twitter has reportedly attempted to standardized its login security — four years ago, Twitter used authentication apps to support its in-house security system. The microblogging company then modified this two-factor security tech to authenticate users without sending SMS.

This depicts that phone numbers are likely to get swapped — a simple means to intercept security authentication. A perfect scenario was when Twitter’s chief executive Jack Dorsey’s account got hacked through this means. This positive change towards securing users’ accounts is also expected to bolster the badge verification process Twitter recently modified to suit high-profiled users on its platform.
