Let your imagination run a little wide, because it looks like Uber may be having a good time yet again after the many controversies it has been through between last year and now. Imagine riding at the back of Volvo XC90 SUV which will be used as a driverless car  to any location of your choice. As reported by Bloomberg, Uber will buy 24,000 Volvo XC90 SUVs from Volvo which will form fleet of driverless cars. The Volvo XC90 will be priced at $49,750 and it will be delivered to the company between 2019 and 2021.

The vehicle feature will serve as a core autonomous driving technology that will also enable the Uber to add their own autonomous driving technology feature to it and also  added by Jeff Miller head of auto alliances at Uber in a statement is that “This new agreement puts us on a path towards mass produced self-driving vehicles at scale”.

Volvo also explained that they are planning to release their own first fully autonomous cars in 2021 and also will use the same base model vehicle in development. Also added by the company is that “The automotive industry is being disrupted by technology and Volvo Cars chooses to be an active part of that disruption,” said Håkan Samuelsson, president and chief executive of Volvo in a statement. “Our aim is to be the supplier of choice for AD ride-sharing service providers globally.”

Uber for a year now has suffered through lots of issues in developing its automated cars. Firstly the company’s self-driving car in Arizona crashed seriously in March this year, then secondly,  December 2016 the company also launched self-driving Uber service that’s also got yanked shortly after it launch because the company failed to do proper documentation of its 16 driverless cars after receiving a series of email warnings about the self-driving test for months. To add more to the pain and issues, Waymo , Google self-driving car company , sued Uber for adoption and stealing its technology for its vehicles. According to report, Waymo is probably the first self-driving company to put its cars on US roads earlier this month without a human driver.
