Uber Nigeria has reportedly expanded its ride-hailing services enveloping more cities in the country. In Nigeria, Uber ride-hailing services in now available in Kano, Delta, and Enugu states. Uber spreading across Nigeria’s commercial cities is a strategic business scheme beneficial to Uber as a foreign investor in Nigeria unlike other African countries harbouring rigid policy.

Uber’s ride-hailing services spreading across Nigeria is the latest fiscal-related news Uber Nigeria reported to influence Africa’s digital landscape. Recall Uber Nigeria is currently active in, Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, and Benin City. The three added cities in Uber Nigeria list such as Kano, Enugu, and Delta sums it up to eight cities in which Uber operates ride-hailing services in Nigeria.

“I am thrilled at what this launch represents for the people and businesses in these cities and the rest of the country at large. We believe that Uber has the potential to provide an alternative earnings opportunity that is pivotal to our efforts to contribute to economic growth in the country,” Uber Nigeria manager, Tope Akinwumi said.

Uber continues to promote the African digital economy with a lucrative business strategy that is schemed not to be opposed by the regional regulatory system but to promote ride-hailing solutions. Meanwhile, the likes of Tanzania have reportedly forced Uber to temporarily shut down foreigners from thriving in their digital economy. Still, Uber Nigeria continues to thrive regarding the conducive regulatory policies that keep Uber expanding in West Africa at large.

“Uber plays a key role as an economic contributor across Sub Saharan Africa and has already produced thousands of sustainable economic opportunities. This is a testament to the appeal of the Uber business model which allows drivers to maintain their independent status and provides them the flexibility to develop and expand their businesses based on their needs and time preferences,” Akinwumi said.

Uber’s expansion is not restricted to promoting its operation localization but to also creating various channels for ride-hailing solutions. The likes of UberX has reportedly been Uber’s subsequent flagship ride-hailing services focused on promoting affordable ride fare. Uber’s ride-hailing services are competing with various ride-hailers present in the Nigerian transport market.

“All drivers, before they start operating on the Uber app, need to go through an industry-leading background check. Uber also provides drivers with 24/7 in-app customer support.” This also serves as an employment opportunity for the Nigerian population to make ends meet as transporters commuting passengers through the streets of either Enugu, Kano, or Delta cities — to join Uber’s expansion campaign to sign up for jobs as Uber drivers, Techbooky.africa writes.
