Good news for all office application users on Apple platforms- you can now create and edit documents without the need for a subscription.

Microsoft recently announced this major development, marking a crucial step in their ongoing commitment to ensure Office is accessible to everyone, everywhere, and available on any device.

Office, at your fingertips.

Just a few months back in March, Microsoft introduced the Office for iPad®. The new step was acclaimed as a significant stride to bring Office to everyone, anywhere they need it, on every device they have at their disposal. The response they received was extraordinarily supportive. Users downloaded Office for their iPads over 40 million times from the App Store, providing positive feedback which thrilled the developers. Users praised the beautiful apps and appreciated the familiar Office experience, specifically designed for the iPad. The most crucial feedback: they wanted Microsoft to continue expanding such accessibility.

Well, Microsoft listened. Since the announcement, they’ve released native apps for OneNote, Lync, Yammer, OneDrive for Business, and OWA for iOS and Android. They’ve also continued investing in the Mac platform with the release of Outlook for Mac and announced the Office for Mac beta to be scheduled for the first half of 2015.

Today, Microsoft is once again delivering on their commitment to accessibility. They’ve now announced that the Office apps that customers appreciate will soon be available on Android tablets. This advancement starts with their Office for Android™ tablet Preview. Additionally, they are releasing Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps for iPhone®, and updates for the iPad apps. This means a consistently beautiful and productive Office experience on every device.

Presenting Office on nearly every device to their customers is of utmost importance to Microsoft. Starting from today, people can create and edit Office content on iPhones, iPads, and soon, Android tablets using Office apps, all without an Office 365 subscription.

Office 365 subscribers, on the other hand, can continue to enjoy the full Office experience across devices with advanced editing and collaboration capabilities, unlimited OneDrive storage, Dropbox integration, and several other benefits.

You are encouraged to download the new iPhone apps, sign up for the Android Preview, update your iPad ones, and realize the full value of Office with a subscription.

Microsoft, with the help of their customers and partners, has already helped more than a billion people boost their productivity with Office, and they’re committed to helping millions more.
