WhatsApp Brings Multi-Account Feature to iOS Beta

WhatsApp has started testing something that iPhone users have been asking for since forever. The messaging app is now working on multi-account support that lets you switch between different accounts without logging out or doing any complicated workarounds. This is a bigger deal than it might seem at first because it changes how millions of people can use the app every single day.

According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, the feature is accessible to select testers using WhatsApp beta for iOS version 25.34.10.72 on their iPhones, following previous development builds.

Right now, if you’re an iPhone user and you want to use two WhatsApp accounts, you’re stuck with some pretty annoying options. You can either keep logging in and out repeatedly, which means waiting for verification codes every single time. Or you can use WhatsApp on one device and WhatsApp Business on another. Some people even carry two phones just to manage their personal and work accounts separately. Android users have had better solutions for years, which made the lack of this feature on iOS even more frustrating for people who switched from Android to iPhone.

The new feature that WhatsApp is testing makes all of that unnecessary. From what we’re seeing in the beta version, users will be able to add a second account right inside the app. Once both accounts are set up, switching between them becomes as simple as tapping a button. No logging out, no verification codes, no waiting around. Both accounts stay active, so you can receive messages on both and switch whenever you need to respond to one or the other. That’s exactly how people want it to work, and  WhatsApp is making it happen now.

This feature matters to a lot of different people for different reasons. There are people who run small businesses and need to keep customer conversations separate from personal chats with friends and family. There are freelancers who want one account for client work and another for everything else. Some people just want to keep their work life and personal life in separate spaces, even if they’re using the same app. And then there are people who have phone numbers in different countries or who manage accounts for other people. All of these situations become so much easier when you can have both accounts on the same device without any hassle.

WhatsApp has been working on this for a while, and it’s been available on Android for some time now. The fact that it’s finally coming to iOS shows that the company is serious about bringing the same experience to all users, regardless of which phone they’re using. This is especially important because WhatsApp is used by billions of people worldwide, and a huge portion of those users are on iPhones.

There’s also a practical side to this that goes beyond just convenience. Having everything on one device means you don’t need to carry multiple phones, which saves money and space. It means you can manage all your communications from one place, which makes life simpler. And it means you’re not constantly switching devices or apps to check different accounts. For people who are already overwhelmed by notifications and messages, this kind of simplification makes a real difference in how manageable their digital life feels.

This feature isn’t available to everyone yet. It’s still in the testing phase, which means only people who are part of WhatsApp’s beta program on iOS can try it out. For everyone else, it’s a matter of waiting until WhatsApp finishes testing and decides to roll it out widely. Based on how these things usually go, that could be a few weeks or it could be a few months. WhatsApp hasn’t given any official timeline, so the best we can do is wait and hope it comes sooner rather than later.

WhatsApp is paying attention to what user actually need. Multi-account support isn’t a flashy feature that gets a lot of attention in marketing materials, but it’s something that makes a real difference for people who use the app every day. The fact that WhatsApp is investing time and resources into building this for iOS users shows that they’re focused on making the app work better for everyone, not just adding new whistles that look good in announcements.

For now, if you’re an iPhone user who’s been waiting for this feature, keep an eye on updates to the WhatsApp beta. And if you’re not in the beta program but you want to be, you can sign up through Apple’s TestFlight. Just be aware that beta versions can be unstable sometimes, so it’s not for everyone. But if you’re willing to deal with occasional bugs in exchange for getting new features early, it might be worth trying.

It is notable to know that WhatsApp began testing multi-account functionality for Android in 2023, and the capability is now publicly available. After the firm went live with multi-account access, Android users could add a second phone number right in the app, eliminating the need for software cloning, third-party tools, or a separate device. This feature will be added to WhatsApp on iOS in the near future via an update.
