Meta is attempting to add premium services to its main products, like Instagram and WhatsApp. According to a recent source, the next “subscription” service may operate within WhatsApp. Meta may provide more features, such as easier access to AI, under these paid services. However, the research focuses more on utility-based improvements like stickers and themes that could enable consumers to better customise their messaging experience than it does on AI integration.
By testing an optional premium subscription plan that offers unique personalisation and productivity benefits, WhatsApp is getting ready to switch to a “freemium” business model. This upcoming tier has seen in Android beta version 2.26.4.8 is aims to provide a more customised user experience, even if essential messaging features will continue to be free.
One of the beta versions of WhatsApp for Android appears to have the first indications of Meta’s planned premium membership service, indicating active development and the potential for an impending debut, according to WABetaInfo. The functionalities are reportedly included in the Android 2.26.4.8 beta version of WhatsApp. According to screenshots included in the post, users of the aforementioned WhatsApp beta will need to sign up for a waitlist before they can begin utilising the capabilities. Users who register may receive notifications as soon as the plan or plans become available. Users will receive more capability beyond what is currently offered whenever they receive approval from WhatsApp or as soon as the features are ready to be released.
WhatsApp may provide premium stickers, app styles, and the ability to pin more than three chats in its new subscription plan. In this plan, you may set dedicated chat ringtones that would create a more personalised messaging experience.
Customisation of WhatsApp’s app icon is also predicted; utilising this feature, users will be able to choose their preferred icon from the various alternatives supplied by WhatsApp.
Since these features are still being developed, WhatsApp may make changes to some of them prior to the official release, or it may add more features after the release in response to user feedback.
As of now, the pricing of this membership plan is unknown, and the plan may vary from nation to country.
Meta recently revealed to members of the press that it intends to provide a new subscription service for all three of its well-known social media networks: Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. However, the article also mentioned that all of these apps’ basic features will continue to be free. This subscription is intended to unlock increased “productivity and creativity”.
Manus, Meta’s recently purchased AI agents, might be included in this new subscription. In December, Meta pulled in $2 billion for the corporation.
The upcoming premium feature seeks to include enhanced chat pinning, advanced customisation, advanced AI capabilities and an ad-free experience, while the business features seek to include the blue checkmark, impersonation protection, priority support and advanced business tools.
