WhatsApp Tests Multi-Message Selection on iOS

WhatsApp is making life easier for iPhone users with a new feature that’s currently rolling out in  testing. The messaging app is introducing an improved way to select and manage multiple messages at once, which is one of the most common frustrations users face when trying to copy or forward several messages.

Previously, iPhone users had to go through a somewhat clunky process when they wanted to select multiple messages. Now, WhatsApp is testing a more streamlined approach that separates single-message forwarding from multiple-message selection, making the entire process easier.

This improvement addresses a  point that many users have experienced. Previously, selecting multiple messages could be time-consuming, especially when dealing with longer conversations.

WhatsApp isn’t stopping at just improving message selection. This feature allows users to highlight only the portion of a message that the user wants to copy rather than being forced to copy the entire text. Whether it’s a single word, sentence, or paragraph, users can now drag to select the exact section they want, making the process faster and more convenient.

This  text selection means you no longer have to copy an entire long message just to get a few important words or sentences. You can simply drag to highlight exactly what you need, similar to how text selection works in other iOS apps.

These improvements might seem small,  but they address real-world usage that people encounter daily.

For work-related conversations, being able to quickly select and forward multiple messages containing project updates or important decisions saves significant time. The new feature makes it much easier to keep team members in the loop without having to repeat information manually.

Students and professionals who use WhatsApp for sharing information will find the precision text selection particularly useful. Instead of copying entire messages and then editing out the irrelevant parts, they can select exactly what they need from the start.

By displaying this, WhatsApp helps educate users about the updated forwarding process and ensures they understand how to select and send multiple messages when the new feature becomes available. This approach shows that WhatsApp recognizes that changing familiar interfaces can be confusing for users.

The company appears to be taking a careful approach to rolling out this feature, making sure users understand the changes and can adapt to the new system smoothly. This kind of user education is often overlooked but can make the difference between a successful feature launch and user frustration.

Right now, this feature is available to select beta testers who are part of WhatsApp’s iOS testing program. As with most WhatsApp features, it will likely undergo several rounds of testing and refinement before being released to all users.

The beta testing phase allows WhatsApp to gather feedback from real users and make adjustments before the wider rollout. This means that by the time the feature reaches all iPhone users, it should be polished and work reliably across different usage scenarios.

Beta features sometimes take weeks or even months to reach all users, so patience is required. However, WhatsApp’s track record suggests that useful features like this one eventually make their way to everyone.

This update is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing effort to improve user experience across all platforms. The company has been steadily rolling out features that address common user complaints and make everyday tasks more efficient.

The focus on message management and selection reflects how people actually use WhatsApp in their daily lives. Rather than adding flashy new features that might go unused, WhatsApp is concentrating on improving the core functionality that billions of people rely on every day.

These kinds of incremental improvements might not grab headlines like major new features, but they often have a bigger impact on user satisfaction. When something you do dozens of times a day becomes easier and more efficient, it genuinely improves your experience with the app.

When this feature becomes widely available, iPhone users should notice an immediate improvement in how they interact with messages. The learning curve should be minimal since the new system builds on familiar gestures and concepts that iOS users already understand.

The combination of better multiple message selection and precision text copying should make WhatsApp feel more responsive and user-friendly. These improvements align with the kind of smooth, intuitive experience that iPhone users expect from their apps.

For now, users can keep an eye out for the feature in future updates, knowing that WhatsApp continues to refine and improve the messaging experience based on real user needs and feedback.
