Microsoft launches its flagship software, today — this new version requires an internet connection to set up Windows 11 Home — this update also accepts an existing Microsoft account. Windows 11 appears to be more complex compared to the previous OS that allows users to opt-out from an existing Microsoft account via a new local account.

“Windows 11 Home edition requires internet connectivity and a Microsoft account to complete device setup on first use.”

The software company programmed this version to encourage users to use Microsoft’s login by default, which also supports users to log in with a local account. Involving internet connectivity to access the latest Windows OS appears to be appropriate whereby the software company released this version via its in-built Windows Update.

“Switching a device out of Windows 11 Home in S mode also requires internet connectivity.-

For contrast, the previous Windows versions have reportedly been vastly delivered via its Window Update which requires an internet connection to install this version directly on your computer.

Other requirements aside from internet connectivity, involves enough storage space to accept a download and installation into your desktop device, in line with Microsoft’s spec sheet for Windows 11.

“For all Windows 11 editions, internet access is required to perform updates and to download and take advantage of some features. A Microsoft account is required for some features.”

Not forgetting your device has to be eligible to process installation in terms of hardware compatibility — windows 11 requires your computer to have a “dual-core 64-bit CPU, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage.”

It worth noting that, this Windows version does not have Skype as its default app for video conferencing — Skype and its Meet Now is exclusive for corporate services whereas Teams has replaced Skype as the default apps for video meetings.

Microsoft’s Panos Panay explained the simplicity of utilizing Teams and joining an already hosted meeting. “Now you can instantly connect through text, chat, voice or video with all personal contacts, anywhere, no matter the platform or device they’re on, across Windows, Android or iOS.”

According to Microsoft’s blog post, “If the person you’re connecting to on the other end hasn’t downloaded the Teams app, you can still connect with them via two-way SMS.”

While you and the video conferencing app remain integrated with your computer — you can decide to either mute or unmute Teams’ from your taskbar. Note that Teams’ will be default in Windows 11 start-up menu.

According to the final leak about the anticipated Windows 11, Teams is expected to rival Skype, to have recorded hundreds of millions of daily active users overtime. Teams have reportedly improved hybrid work conditions — where users who work remotely from home can easily communicate with others currently at the workplace.
