Unknowing Woman Gives Away $200k Apple 1 Computer, Offered Half the Value in Return

This astonishing story is a glaring example of how treasured antiques can sometimes be discarded in ignorance. A woman unknowingly gave away a piece of high-tech history—an Apple 1 computer—by dropping it off at a recycling center in Silicon Valley. This seemingly insignificant hand-me-down is a rarity today, carrying a hefty value tag of $200,000.

Upon realizing the gold mine in their possession, the recycling company, CleanBayArea, graciously decided to share the treasure’s selling value with the unsuspecting donor. They offered her an astounding sum of $100,000, approximately 19.9 million Naira or £65,000. However, locating the woman proved to be a daunting task as she didn’t provide any contact information while making the drop-off.

The company’s Vice President, Victor Gichun, himself revealed the intriguing incident in an interview with NBC news. He fervently asked the mysterious woman to step up and collect her rightful share of the treasure.

It further throws light on the intriguing backstory as to why such a valuable item was recycled in the first place. The woman had recently suffered the loss of her husband and was clearing out their garage when she stumbled upon this unnoticed relic.

This intriguing tale acts as a stark reminder of how some items collecting dust in one’s storage could, in reality, be hidden treasures. Notably, in the bustling world of technology, the value of antique tech products like the Apple 1 computer continues to soar. This story certainly compels one to double-check their junks before hauling everything to the recycle bin. After all, one person’s trash could indeed be another’s treasure.
