X Rolls Out ‘React With Video’ Tool To Target Creators

X introduced a new feature yesterday called “React with Video,” which attempts to increase the variety of feedback available on the platform designed to let creators directly record video responses to posts on their timelines. The tool, which encourages users to record a video response to postings rather than either reshare or type their comment via a quote post, is being promoted as an alternative to the repost button.

The tool’s function is obviously aimed toward artists, who frequently develop their personal brands by sharing their own opinions and leaving comments on other people’s content. News influencers hoping to become well-known for their controversial opinions and responses to politics or current events may find X in particular appealing.

Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, on a note stated that commentary is one of the most important pillars of X in announcing the feature. And sometimes using video is the most effective approach to express your ideas.

The company stated that the feature will be released to Android and the web “soon.” It is presently available on iOS.

A representative for X told members of the press that the business thinks the feature might provide a new avenue for producers to engage with their audience on this. In the form of tone and facial expressions, for example, creators will be able to receive more detailed feedback from their audience, and they can utilize the responses to become more involved in the dialogue.

In recent months, X has experienced a number of developments that have affected its creators. Precisely in April, the firm had announced that it was discontinuing its Communities feature in order to concentrate more on facilitating direct connections. It even tried to make some adjustments to its revenue-sharing scheme with creators, but some of those changes had to be reversed and reconsidered because of negative feedback received. In addition to this, it has also introduced “Paid Partnership” branding for creators and experimented with ad forms that link products to postings.

Additionally, the Creator Subscriptions feature has also been redesigned with some additional features that include shared cards and exclusive threads. Additionally, X took action against clickbait in April by cutting back on rewards to accounts that share low-quality content on its platform.

Also as revealed in SpaceX’s S-1 filing, X’s user base increased to 550 million by March 2026, rising from 520 million in December 2025.

The feature works by allowing users to tap the Repost button on any post, which brings up an overlay menu where the users can select the video reaction option. Creators can record their reactions using built-in formats such as green screen, split screen, or picture-in-picture layouts. The tool then overlays the creator’s live video recording directly on top of the original post image, video, or text. Currently, the feature is live for iOS users, with a rollout to Android and web platforms expected soon.

The shift to video marks X’s attempt to transform into a “video-first” platform that is capable of competing with other short-form media giants like TikTok and Instagram Reels in the social media space. X believes that letting news influencers, commentators, and everyday users that convey facial expressions and tone alongside their commentary will foster richer community interactions. This update also builds on a series of recent video upgrades, including an immersive vertical video feed and long-form uploads, and these features have contributed to a reported 40 percent increase in platform video views over the last few years.
