Discovering hidden features and functionalities that your favorite devices have to offer can be quite an exhilarating experience. In focus today, are subtle but incredibly cool hidden tricks for your iPhones and Androids that you probably had no idea about. We’ve sourced these secrets from BGR and crafted a comprehensive guide for you. Buckle up because they’re about to enhance your user experience significantly.

First, let me introduce you to some iPhone-specific secrets. These can be universally accessed using the dial strings provided:

  • *#06# – Reveals your phone’s unique International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number. Useful when you need to report your device as lost or stolen.
  • *3001#12345#* + “Call” – Opens up a hidden Field Test menu that provides detailed network and device statistics.
  • *#43# + “Call” – Shows your current call waiting status, you can either enable or disable it using *43# + “Call” or #43# + “Call” respectively.
  • *#21# – Displays your call forwarding status. You can disable all call forwarding using ##002# + “Call”.
  • Need more control over your calls? Use *33*pin# to enable call barring or #33*pin# to disable it.
  • #31#phone-number + “Call” – Ideal when you want to make anonymous calls, blocks your caller ID for the current phone call.
  • *3370# + “Call” – Enables the “Enhanced Full Rate,” significantly improving voice quality on GSM networks. Keep in mind though that it may impact battery life.
  • *#5005*7672# + “Call” – Unveils your carrier’s message center phone number.

Moving on to our Android friends, we’ve got two noteworthy tricks:

  • *#*#4636#*#* – This uncovers a hidden test menu packed with sections for network analysis, battery information and usage stats.
  • Unlock your phone’s full potential with the “Developer options.” Under “About phone” in Settings, tap on “Build number” seven times. A treasure trove of functions await you in the newly enabled “Developer options” menu in Settings.

Unlocking these features can drastically change how you utilise your device. They make routine operations faster, and more importantly, they impress your friends with your tech savvy capabilities. So go ahead, explore and enjoy the newfound command over your device.
