YouTube Music Begins Android Lyrics Sharing

Have you ever had the impression that a song was designed specifically for your mood and you want to share it with everyone? You may now do just that if you’re listening to music on YouTube.

A new feature that enables users to share particular song lyrics straight from the app is reportedly on the horizon for Google’s music streaming service. There is a little catch, though: not everyone has access to it yet, and it will initially only be available on Android.

Among music streaming services, YouTube Music is highly popular. It is presently being tested on the platform and is getting another popular feature from its competition, Spotify.

The new function is located in the YouTube Music Android app’s Lyrics page, according to a Reddit post. You will be able to choose a certain song segment after tapping the new Share button. You are then presented with a customization screen where you may select the color of your backdrop. Your chosen lyrics, the song title, the artist’s name, album art, and a YouTube Music logo will all appear at the top and bottom of the finished image, respectively.

It is the capability of sharing lyrics with your loved ones via Instagram and other social media platforms. The capability was recently discovered by a Reddit user (via AssembleDebug) and functions somewhat similarly to what Spotify has been providing for some time.

Song lyrics are already available on YouTube Music and may be found in the Now Playing area of the music streaming service. According to the Reddit user’s published video, users will be able to choose particular lyrics when the future functionality launches.

You can either share the image straight to your messaging or social media apps or store it to your device. Stories on Instagram? Chats in groups? You make the decision.

After selecting their favourite lyrics, users can see a new Next button and a new sharing button. Clicking on these buttons will reveal a sharing sheet with social media icons like Instagram. But according to the video, they can be shared as Instagram Stories, and once the feature’s official distribution starts, more social media accounts should be added.

If this seems familiar, it’s because apps like Musixmatch, which allowed us to copy, paste, and even screenshot lyrics to share with pals, offered us a taste of lyric sharing long before streaming giant took notice.

Sharing their favourite songs on Instagram, Instagram Stories, and even Snapchat is nothing new to YouTube Music subscribers. The new lyrics sharing tool is the same as the old one, and users may also select a colour scheme to make some lyrics look fancier on social media accounts. As an alternative, you can download it as an image.

Similar capabilities, such as shareable, selectable lyrics encased in visually appealing content, are currently available on Spotify and Apple Music. However, YouTube Music claims that this is a first for the site and that it comes as the platform has surpassed 100 million users worldwide. Although it still lags well behind Spotify’s enormous 626 million users, that puts it ahead of Apple Music’s projected 93 million. Nevertheless, YouTube is obviously trying to compete with the others.

The fact that YouTube Music is catching up to its competitors in terms of adding new features is positive, and it should probably grow more interesting. Because of this functionality, customers who switch between apps should have an additional motivation to return to YouTube Music from Spotify or other providers.

YouTube Music began testing redesigning artist pages earlier this year, and the well-liked reorganization of the audio/video switch buttons was also in the works. Later this year, all of these proposed features might be about to launch.

Users may soon be able to utilize the function on their smartphones as it starts to roll out, even if it hasn’t gone live yet. There is currently no information on when iOS users will be able to access it. Nevertheless, this is a good move for YouTube Music, particularly if it hopes to draw in more socially engaged users who enjoy sharing their musical moments.
