Adobe Max began the day with a number of announcements, primarily related to artificial intelligence. The software giant which has it HQ at San Jose, California, announced its collaboration with YouTube at Adobe Max 2025. At its creative conference, however, the firm also announced that YouTube Shorts will be incorporating the video editing features of Adobe Premiere.

This partnership allows the company to provide YouTube Shorts makers with a one-stop shop through its Premiere app for iOS. Shorts will even be able to import the video and broadcast it straight to their channel thanks to changes made to the video editing app’s workflow. Notably, a number of new artificial intelligence (AI) tools and capabilities have been released for various Adobe platforms in conjunction with the launch.

YouTube has been doing everything in its power to force Shorts to compete with TikTok and Instagram Reels, as is well known. The Premiere mobile feature in Shorts is now available to YouTube creators by selecting “Edit in Adobe Premiere.” Along with generative sound effects and, of course, a variety of AI features enabled by Firefly, it will incorporate Adobe’s editing tools.

Short vertically scrolling videos are now the most common way to watch videos on social media. Initiated by TikTok and subsequently embraced by YouTube with Shorts and Instagram with Reels, the format has attracted millions of viewers and thousands of producers. During the event, Adobe revealed that it would be partnering with YouTube to make it easier to create Shorts.

Within the Premiere app, Adobe will offer a specific area for content creation as part of this partnership. Content makers who are also creators of YouTube Shorts will have access to the current video editing tools in this area, along with exclusive Shorts with features with variety of templates, transitions, settings and effects. Users will also be able to import and post the altered videos straight to the creator’s YouTube account using the interface. Users can also opt to modify templates that are shared among authors or use one that is already created for Shorts. Although creators must export their work to YouTube, Adobe Premiere was released on iOS devices in September.

Vice President of Engineering at YouTube Scott Silver announced the partnership, saying, “This partnership with Adobe to integrate YouTube Shorts into Premiere mobile will give creators even more choice and access to more editing features to produce content the way they want, unlocking new ways for them to connect with their viewers and reach new audiences globally.” Silver and Ely Greenfield, Adobe’s Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President, Digital Media, announced the collaboration.

An “Edit in Adobe Premiere” button that takes users to Adobe’s iOS platform will now be visible to content creators on the YouTube app. The site offers a variety of title pre-sets and effects, ready-to-use templates, and the ability to publish one’s own templates for other people to use.

It’s important that Adobe has also released a new prompt-to-edit tool that lets users edit movies using text prompts. Agentic skills in assistants throughout Photoshop, Firefly, and Express are used in this capacity. In order to add voiceovers and music tracks to uploaded videos, the company also unveiled the Generate Speech and Generate Soundtrack tools.

There is no clear indication of when exactly, as Adobe only states that Premiere mobile will be available on YouTube Shorts “soon.”

In any case, it’s a another video alternative to think about, just like TikTok’s CapCut and Meta’s Edits app.

With a variety of mobile tools for making and editing videos that will help you produce short-form videos that look better.
