YouTube Is Giving Creators Violating Policies A Way To Wipe Out Their Warnings

YouTube announced a modification of their Community Guidelines that will affects creators who violate any of its policies. Henceforth, when creators receive a warning, they will have the option of choosing to undertake an educational training course. Upon completion of the said course, YouTube says they will lift the warning, so long as the creator refrains from violating the same policy within a period of 90 days.

According to the authorities, this option will allow the creators learn what they did, as well as how they violated the company’s policy. This will also help creators avoid other penalties, and prevent being terminated from the video platform. The course essentially allows YouTube creators to erase warnings at the initial stage before they lead to strikes. As per YouTube’s policy, creators channels that have received 3 strikes within a 90 day period will have their accounts taken down from the platform.

In an announcement made recently, YouTube responded to creators’ concerns about account termination, saying that the new adjustment will allow creators understand which company policy they violated, and know to not repeat their mistakes. It will also help creators understand the rules better.

For creators who violate the same rule within the 90 day period, the content in question is taken down, and a strike is added to their channel. This will affect the creator’s bottom line, and indirectly affect YouTube’s revenue, so it makes sense that they would want to keep creators’ content online and available.

As it stands, the 3-strike rule implemented by YouTube remains in effect, but with this new adjustment, it appears that fewer creators will ever reach that point. This policy, they emphasize, in no way negates any more of YouTube’s existing policies.
